Prime Minister Viorica Dancila met on Friday with the group of Ladies Ambassadors accredited to Bucharest, with whom she discussed the strengthening of government measures and actions focused on the role of women and their promotion in society.
“This meeting took place in the context of Tunisia’s mandate as the 2018-2019 Capital of Arab Women, organized in partnership with the Embassy of Tunisia in Bucharest,” reads a press release issued by the Government.
According to the cited source, the prime minister stressed that two important documents were adopted in 2018, namely the National Strategy for Promoting Gender Equality and Preventing and Combating Domestic Violence for the Period 2018-2021, and the Operational Plan for the period 2018 – 2021 for the implementation of the strategy.
“The Prime Minister has assured that the Government will continue to promote policies aimed at combating domestic violence and encouraging women entrepreneurship and women’s participation in the decision-making process, including from the position of rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union. Thus, one of the priorities of Romania’s mandate is to promote and support the initiatives aimed at combating gender discrimination. In this regard, the Romanian Prime Minister announced the organization in Bucharest, at the end of May 2019, in the calendar of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, of a high-level international conference on promoting the role of women in the decision-making process,” the press release specifies.
