SocDem Party (PSD) Chairman Liviu Dragnea made on Saturday, at Ialomita, the portrait of the future Social Democrat MEPs, mentioning that first of all, they have to be patriot “in every cell of their bodies” and they have to know at least one foreign language.
“Romanians can choose from our candidates, I think we’re going to finalize the list within two weeks, maybe earlier, and they have to fulfil some quite serious criteria”, Liviu Dragnea announced at the Extraordinary Election Conference of the PSD Ialomita county organization.
The PSD leader mentioned five criteria which the PSD members who are willing to go to the European Parliament must fulfil.
“First of all, they must be patriot in every single cell of their bodies and hearts. This is the first requirement. The second requirement: to know how to speak, to be willing to speak, to have the courage to speak and to defend the national interest of the country they represent there. Because that’s what all of them are doing, we are the only ones who are told it’s a good thing for the Romanian MEPs to go there and swear Romania. The others don’t do this. The third criterion: to know at least one foreign language. The fourth one: to understand what’s going on in the European institutions and do their best to increase the European funds coming to Romania. The fifth one: to be respected, to learn how to communicate, to speak with our partners from the European Social Democrat family and from the other political families, in order for the important cases, and I’m speaking about economic cases, social cases, which can affect Romania by a positive manner, to be supported and finalized”, Dragnea added.
The PSD Chairman also announced that, on the other hand, the party will have a list of people “who, at least in the last two years, are doing nothing else but bringing hatred, venom, poison, mud, stones and swearing us, and more recently, I saw they put themselves on posters with a certain prosecutor”.
“So, this is the most obvious proof of politicizing justice assumed by anyone, namely by the National Liberal Party”, Liviu Dragnea also stated.
Liviu Dragnea, asked if he will run for the President: I will not run for EP elections for sure
On Saturday, SocDem leader avoided to say if he will run for the President, mentioning that he will definitely not run for the EP elections and that he agreed with Calin Popescu Tariceanu to present a common candidate after the EP elections.
“I will definitely not run for EP elections. I’m not talking about my candidacy for the presidential elections with anyone, anywhere, ever. We’ll talk after the EP elections”, Liviu Dragnea said when asked if he will run for the President.
Journalists returned on the fact that he doesn’t exclude a candidacy for the President, but the SocDem leader said: “I’m not talking about my candidacy for the presidential elections with anyone, anywhere, ever. Me and Mr. Tariceanu agreed to present together, after the EP elections, a common candidate who will be supported by the Alliance”.
The PSD Chairman also said that the trust in the act of justice is affected by the fact that “a secret service, namely SRI, has secret protocols with the High Court of Cassation and Justice, with the National Anticorruption Directorate and with the General Prosecutor’s Office”.
“I saw on a banner ‘We want justice, not corruption!’. Yes. I want this, too. We want this, too. We don’t want this system that corrupted justice and tries to continue to corrupt it, to function any longer. Given that a secret service, namely SRI, has secret protocols with the High Court of Cassation and Justice, with the National Anticorruption Directorate, with the General Prosecutor’s Office, given that there were SRI officers standing on the corridors of those institutions, could there be any trust in the act of justice in Romania? I mean 60pct of the Romanians are crazy when they say, in all the polls, the bad ones, that after they saw the revealed information, unprecedented abuses, fake cases, cases made by means of fraud, pressure and blackmail, secret protocols, they say yes, it could happen to them to be sentenced without being guilty. This is the situation in which they brought Romania in terms of the perception of the Romanian people towards the act of justice. Who brought it here? Those who are speaking about the ‘rule of law’ from morning till evening”, Liviu Dragnea stated at the Extraordinary Election Conference of the PSD Ialomita county organization.
The SocDem leader also accused certain party members of being in complicity with the secret services.
“There were lists made with the complicity of some members of our party, too. Lists with colleagues that must be executed. Lists that were made by the SRI heads. (…) All those who corrupted justice must pay, regardless of their name. And regardless of who is supporting them, here or abroad”, Dragnea added.
The PSD Chairman Liviu Dragnea stated on Saturday at Slobozia that, by nor promulgating the budget, President Klaus Iohannis “proved once more that he doesn’t care at all about the Romanians’ welfare” and launched criticisms against the head of state.
“Klaus Iohannis proves once more that he doesn’t care at all about the Romanians’ welfare. (…) He doesn’t care that by delaying the approval, publication and promulgation of the budget, investments that are expected by each community in Romania, small and large investments, are delayed”, Liviu Dragnea said. He launched criticisms against the head of state. “This gentleman, ‘cause he seems to be a gentleman, (was speaking – e.n.) about making certain files clean. Isn’t he ashamed of such a lie? Who cleaned his more than 40 files related to the houses stolen from the state? Isn’t it his friend working at the General Prosecutor’s Office? Are they talking about these things? When was his wife to the Prosecutor’s Office? Was she there, or wasn’t she? Wasn’t she there by night, like thieves? Why justice has to be selective? In the last period, all these people saw we are working and letting them to hit us, and they were so free, they fled freely in the plains. Dear people, we have just started to talk”, Dragnea added.
This week, President Klaus Iohannis said that “cleaning the files of the PSD leaders continues to be the zero priority, instead of building highways and hospitals”.
“Now, I’m asking, who stopped PSD from making major investments in the last two years? Why cleaning the files of the PSD leaders continues to be the zero priority, instead of building highways and hospitals? A said it and I repeat – the PSD government has failed. If PSD is not able to govern for the citizens, then they should leave and let others who can do it”, Iohannis stated.
We do not want this system corrupting Justice to keep functioning
Liviu Dragnea also stated in Slobizia that the trust in the justice process is affected by the fact that “a secret service, namely the SRI [Romanian Intelligence Service] has secret protocols with the High Court of Cassation and Justice [ICCJ], with the National Anticorruption Directorate [DNA], with the General Prosecutor’s office”.
“We do not want the continual functioning of this system that corrupted Justice and is trying to corrupt it still, to say it plainly. Given that a secret service. namely the SRI has secret protocols with the High Court of Cassation and Justice, with the National Anticorruption Directorate, with the General Prosecutor’s office, given that officers from SRI stood on the hallways of these institutions can we still trust the justice process in Romania?”, said the PSD leader said in Slobozia, where he is present at the Election Conference of PSD Ialomita.
Dragnea also mentioned the figures in the polls regarding the trust of Romanians in the justice process.
“Meaning that 60-something percent of Romanians are crazy when they say in all the polls, the real ones, that, after observing in the recent period the information that came to light, unheard of abuses, extraordinary abuses, fictional cases, cases drawn up by fraud, by pressure, by extortion, secret protocols – they’re saying yes, that it can happen to them to be taken and convicted without being guilty?”, the Social Democrat asked rhetorically.
