On Thursday, March 21, at 6.30 PM, at the exhibition hall of the Cervantes Institute of Bucharest (38 Regina Elisabeta Blvd.), the opening of the individual exhibition called Recorriendo Perú, by Ximena Heraud, will take place in the artist’s presence.
The exhibition, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in Romania in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute of Bucharest and presents 16 works signed by the young Peruvian artist, and can be visited until April 12 (from Monday to Friday, between 9.00 AM and 9.00 PM, on Saturday between 9.00 AM and 5.00 PM, on Sunday – closed).
Ximena Heraud (Lima, Peru) has achieved an important number of exhibitions in her homeland, as well as in Australia, Czech Republic or Germany. She graduated from the painting classes of the National Art School, Sydney, Australia. “Recorriendo Perú” is a selection of oil on canvas, mainly landscapes from the artist’s journeys on the Peruvian coast side, sierra and Selva regions, some of these places being difficult to access, meaning not only the joy of creation for the artist, but also the joy of explorations and long distances to be walked with her own feet.
The exhibition will be open until April 12, 2019.
Next week and continuing the Peruvian atmosphere created by the exhibition, by the courtesy of the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in Romania, three Peruvian features will be screened according to the following schedule:
On Monday, March 25, 2019, at 7.00 PM – Retablo, directed by Álvaro Delgado Aparicio, Peru, 95 minutes, drama, v.o. Spanish, subtitles in Romanian and English. The movie is screened with the support of the Pelicula Festival. Latin American Experience, the Jury Award for the Best Film of the 2018 edition.
Synopsis: Somewhere far away, on the mountain peaks of Peru, Segundo, 14 years old, is training himself to follow his father in the traditional art of retablo, making elaborated hand-crafted boxes that represent religious scenes or important events in the day-to-day life. Although Segundo admires his dad a lot, the boy becomes more and more anxious every day. When he finds out the terrible secret hidden by his father, Segundo will have to face the tough reality of the profoundly conservative and religious environment to which he belongs, as well as a more tight and complex relationship with his father than he ever imagined.
On Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at 7.00 PM – El acuarelista, directed by Daniel Rodriguez Risco, Peru, 2008, 88 minutes, drama, comedy drama, v.o. Spanish, subtitle in English
Synopsis: T is a public servant and he wants to fulfill his great dream to make a painting in watercolors, but he is prevented from doing it because of his neighbors who believe that T’s dream is a sublime stupid thing, something totally unpractical, even immoral. Of course, they have better ideas on how T can spend his time.
On Friday, March 29, 2019, at 7.00 PM – Una sombra al frente, directed by Augusto Tamayo San Roman, Peru, 2007, 135 minutes, drama, v.o. Spanish, subtitle in English
Subtitles: Enrique Aet, a young road engineer, is one of those professionals who have stubbornly built various traffic routes in Peru in the beginning of the 20th century. But due to the harsh and wild geography, this is a difficult project. However, although the Peruvian Republic has recently faced a war, it begins to advance to the Amazonian Selva in the attempt to incorporate this huge territory in the life of the country.
