According to a communique issued on Sunday by the Government, the participants included members from the leadership of Amgen, Motorola Solutions, ExxonMobil, Oshkosh Defense, Parsons, Merck (MSD Pharma), UiPath, Textron/Bell and AMRO.

During the meeting, the Romanian Prime Minister emphasised the transatlantic partnership’s importance for the prosperity and economic security of Europe and the United States of America, outlining the fact that the strengthening of this link is one of the objectives of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Likewise, Premier Viorica Dancila reaffirmed Romania’s desire to consolidate and deepen the economic dimension of its Strategic Partnership with the United States of America. The Romanian Government’s measures to enhance the attractiveness of the Romanian business sector were presented, and an invitation to invest in our country was extended.

The representatives of the American companies expressed their interest in paying a visit to Romania in June 2019, following the Romanian Prime Minister’s presentation of the opportunities our country is offering in a series of domains such as healthcare, energy, research and innovation, information technology, and communications, the aforementioned source informs.

“At the same time, the American investors appreciated the measures adopted by the Romanian Government to hike the budget for investments in healthcare and infrastructure, as well as the opportunities for enhancing the strategic defence industry. Likewise, the constant dialogue between the Romanian Government and investors was also mentioned during the meeting, and the company representatives who were present at the talks expressed their appreciation for the ministers’ participation in the investment forums organised by the American companies. The talks also focused on the recent modifications to the Public Private Partnership legislation, with an emphasis on the fact that it includes expanded contractual terms and permits more flexible financing, as well as the sharing of risks and benefits between the public partner and the private partner,” the communique reads.

Another topic widely debated during the meeting concerned the success registered by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in what concerns a series of important dossiers for the development of the business sector.

Last but not least, Premier Viorica Dancila thanked the United States for its support for Romania’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, underscoring the benefits that this demarche would have for the American companies that are doing business in Romania.
