The PLUS and USR leaders, Dacian Ciolos and Dan Barna, submitted on Tuesday to the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) more than 500,000 signatures and the list of candidates for the EP elections. They stated that this is one more step to save Romania from theft and to bring our country back on the way to Europe.
“Today (on Tuesday – e.n.), we’re making one more step to save Romania from theft and criminals and to restore Romania’s way to Europe, to the real democracy and welfare. We’re doing this with the help of more than 500,000 Romanians we’ve met in the last weeks waling on street, all over the country; we’re going forward with their support. I want to thank them for the trust they gave to us. We have gathered more than 500,000 signatures after we met millions of Romanians these days, we’ve gathered over 130,000 signatures only in Bucharest, and over 22,000 signatures in diaspora. It’s a significant number, given that around 30,000 Romanians from diaspora voted in the last elections”, Dacian Ciolos stated before submitting to BEC the lists of signatures and candidates for the EP elections.
“Today, we’re making important steps, not only in order to bring Europe in Romania, but also to propose to Romanians the real political alternative. I want to thank to all those who stayed in the street until now and met the Romanians, we will continue doing this after submitting the list of candidates. It’s the best list ever proposed by Romania for the EP since it joined the EU. We will explain Romanians what we are planning to do in the EP and what is the way in which we want to make Romania be worthy of being represented in the EU. We will definitely win because you have already given this impetus, from now on, we have a duty to those who gave their signatures here. Starting from today, we are not alone anymore, we are more than 500,000 people, and until the elections of May 26, we will definitely be enough to win”, the PLUS leader added.
In his turn, the USR Chairman Dan Barna stated the two parties mobilized and gathered 520,000 signatures, mentioning that the Alliance will start to travel in the country in the next two months.
“520,000 citizens have signed, there are 520,000 real signatures gathered by our fellows from USR and PLUS from all over the country and from diaspora, 520,000 people wanting a Romania without criminals and theft. There are 520,000 people on which we can build trust and hope for the next elections. This month, I was in Iasi and in Brasov, and in Timisoara, and in Craiova, and in Cluj, and in Constanta, and I said a very simple thing: if each of us will bring other three people to vote, we’ll win the elections. If each of the 520,000 people supporting the USR-PLUS Alliance, wanting a Romania without theft and without criminals, will bring other three people to vote, Romania will be getting well starting from May 26. Go to vote on May 26, bring other three people with you, and hope will roll over and we will become again a normal country, a European country, a country of which we can be proud and in which we can live proudly. Now we’re going to submit these signatures. We’re starting. We will continue to travel in the major cities and in the small cities and in communes, in the next two months, and we are very sure that Romania will become again that European state without criminals in public positions”, Dan Barna said.
