An essential component for quality education is represented by the person at the desk, a model for the generations he/she is shaping, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila said on Tuesday at Victoria Palace, at the launching event of an initiative aimed at increasing the quality of the education system.
“Education is a priority of the PSD – ALDE government, along with Health. We are taking action on a number of fronts to increase children’s access to quality education, we have increased the Education budget by almost 47 percent this year, we have considerably increased the salaries of teachers – as a way to appreciate and motivate the work of the teacher, we support investment projects in the Romanian school, ranging from nurseries and kindergartens to universities. All decisions for improving the education system are taken in consultation with social partners, trade unions, teachers’ associations, students and pupils, because I believe that the best decisions are made through open dialogue. An essential component for quality education is the person at the desk, a model for the generations that he/she shapes and to whom he/she transmits not only the teaching but also the life lessons and their character. The teaching calling is vocation, tireless involvement, and dedication. To be an educator, a schoolmaster or a teacher means that you yourself learn every day and to take up with new teaching methods that are more attractive and closer to children and young people,” premier Dancila said.
She added that this project, titled “Creators of Education”, is designed and built as a modern online platform through which teachers can exchange good practices, worthy of being followed by colleagues, thus actively participating in the development of professional skills and in supporting an innovative education system.
“I believe in the benefits of this project, first of all for children and young people who, through creative, personalized methods, will have a much more enjoyable and easier learning process, will be encouraged to attend courses and not to drop out of school, then to educators, schoolmasters and teachers, this project will contribute to their work being acknowledged, to highlighting and promoting the good ideas they apply in classes and which are also a source of inspiration for other educators. (…) I am convinced that this project will generate ideas and creative teaching methods, which will benefit as many students as possible,” the prime minister concluded.
