The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) Chairman Calin Popescu Tariceanu stated on Saturday at Craiova, where he attended the presentation of the party’s candidates for the European Parliament elections, that what prevents Romania from progressing is the corruption of the parallel state and the injustices caused by it, for which reason this is a permanent concern for him.
According to the ALDE Chairman, after 30 years since the fall of Communism, the same system of terror by which Communism ruled the country for 45 years was reintroduced in Romania, and his party wants to liberate justice from the predators of the parallel state.
“I’ll tell you something that is my permanent concern: we want to be a prosperous country, with prosperous citizens. But you have to know that there’s no prosperity without freedom. Those who died because of the bullets of the repression of December 1989 didn’t ask for bread or salami. They died for freedom. Freedom was hardly gained in Romania, it was harder than in any other country of the Communist camp. It was gained by blood. Well, I have never been able to imagine that after 30 years since the fall of Communism, the same systems by which Communism ruled Romania for 45 years will be reintroduced in Romania: the system of terror, the system of listening phone conversations, the brotherhood between Securitate and prosecutors. (…) Well, from ALDE’s perspective, what prevents us from progressing more and better is the corruption of the parallel state and the injustices caused by it, the abuses and the excesses whose victims were thousands and thousands of innocent people. I want to liberate justice from the predators of the parallel state”, Tariceanu said in front of about one thousand ALDE members in Oltenia, who attended the presentation of the candidates organized at the Multifunctional Center of Craiova.
The ALDE Chairman added that in the last 14 years, Romanian has become dominated by a parallel system of power that eliminated all those who didn’t accept the backstage games, such as deciding the result of the presidential elections “in Gabriel Oprea’s living room, with the support of Coldea, Dumbrava and DNA prosecutors led by Kovesi”.
“Unfortunately, in the last 14 years, Romania has become dominated by this parallel system of power that decided to eliminate all those who had the courage to stand upright, not to bend, not to accept the backstage games, not to accept that that result of the elections is decided in Oprea’s living room with Maior’s support, with Coldea’s support, with Dumbrava’s support, with the support of the DNA prosecutors led by Kovesi and of those specialized in investigations copied using the methods of the ‘50s, like DNA Ploiesti, DNA Oradea or DNA Brasov, instead of being decided by you, the free citizens. After 30 years since the Revolution, we will put an end to the crimes committed by the parallel state, to the illegalities and these injustices. I want to fight against corruption equally, legally, democratically and in a balanced manner. The fight against corruption most not be an occasion to revenge or eliminate the political opponents. It’s not a witch hunt, since we are not a dictatorship of the third world”, the ALDE leader and the Senate’s Speaker also stated.
