Kazakhstan: Stable power transit is a guarantee of state development

The people of Kazakhstan, at present, are preparing to vote in the presidential elections on June 9, 2019.

Leading Kazakhstan since the beginning of its independence, President Nursultan Nazarbayev resigned on March 19, 2019. The Head of State, according to the Constitution, became Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who had previously been the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. The highest position in Kazakhstan was transferred in a peaceful atmosphere and in a full accordance with the law and the Constitution, which caused positive opinions in the country and abroad.

Observers are convinced that the First President N. Nazarbayev made wise decision to transfer his powers to the next generation, while remaining a member of the Constitutional Council, Head of the Security Council of Kazakhstan and the Leader of the «Nur Otan» party. It is necessary to ensure stable development of the country and continuity of the planned course of state.

As K. Tokayev said, “thanks to the First President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan managed to gain prestige in the world, and now the country occupies a worthy place in international community. Kazakhstan’s interests are considered, its opinion is heard by many. Now, for real, it is a historical moment for our state”.

Speaking in Parliament, President K. Tokayev noted the high merit of N. Nazarbayev, stressing that “he has already entered into the world history as a prominent reformer. He managed to transform Kazakhstan into a modern, advanced state listed in 50 most competitive countries in the world. His economic and political reforms became a symbol of wise government policy. Therefore, foreign experts named the reforms of N. Nazarbayev by “Kazakhstan Way” or “Kazakh Model”.

In current conditions of political and economic instability in the world, the lack of security guarantees in many countries, Kazakhstan needs to maintain peace for the benefit of strengthening the social welfare of its people. K. Tokayev has repeatedly noted that he will continue the course of N. Nazarbayev to consolidate the state and enhance society in order to enter the top 30 most developed countries in the world.

In order to ensure a steady transfer of governance, K. Tokayev announced on April 9 about the holding of a snap presidential elections on June 9, 2019. He stated that he will guarantee fair and transparent elections with the participation of international observers. This is the right decision, since the development and strengthening of observation mechanisms during the electoral cycle will promote openness of elections, as well as development of electoral culture of the population, increase the activity of civil society.

Currently, seven politicians have nominated for the presidency. They are representatives of various professions with experience in various areas of economy, culture and social life of society, which allows us to tell about their qualitative composition.

The election campaign promises to be interesting in a view of the number of participants, and the candidates are set up for an open and honest election campaign for the votes of Kazakhstan citizens.

After a quarter of a century of independence, having successfully overcome a number of crises, the citizens of Kazakhstan will choose who will be the next head of the country – an economically prosperous, socially oriented, actively participating in the international agenda.

At the same time, it is especially important that the elected head of state, like his predecessor, will continue to ensure the security, growth and prosperity of his people, acting as the guarantor of the rule of law and the freedom of citizens, cooperation in Central Asia and active participation in solving issues on the international agenda.
