The 15th edition of Museums Night will take place on May 18, at national level, and the public is invited to attend exhibitions, artistic interventions and experiments, projections, dancing, theater plays and concerts. Being initiated by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, under the patronage of the European Council, UNESCO and the International Council of Museums, the event is organized at national level by the National Network of Romanian Museums (RNMR), being expected with a great interest every year, 50 museums and unconventional exhibition places have been enrolled in the Bucharest museum circuit, along with other cultural entities, and the suggested activities are extremely varied, being adapted to all the ages and cultural interests.
There are a number of newly entered space in the Museums Night circuit, including the Recent Art Museum (MaRe), the Romanian Records Museum, the Moving Painting Museum, offered by Qreator, as well as The Smallest Mobile Museum, organized by the “Madrigal – Marin Constantin” National Chamber Choir. It will be an itinerant museum, with exhibitions at the National Museum of Romanian Peasant and the “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History, passing through the “George Enescu” National Museum and the Art Collection Museum, to the plateau of the “Carol I’ University Central Library and the Bucharest Municipality Museum – the Sutu Palace. Also during the Museums Night, the building of the National Museum of Geology will be highlighted with the help if an architectural lightning show.
“Museums Night is an event that is expected by everyone. In Bucharest, we have 50 spaces enrolled, while there are more than 100 museums and various cultural entities enrolled all over the country, representing 32 counties. We are really excited to see that there’s a great interest for this event, and we wish people see museums as welcoming spaces to be frequently visited”, stated the manager of the Museums Night, Dragos Neamu.
According to the organizers of the event, the following Bucharest museums are enrolled until now: the National Museum of Romanian Peasant, the “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History, the Romanian National Art Museum, the National Museum of Geology, the “George Enescu” Museum, the Bucharest Municipality Museum, the National Museum of Romanian Aviation, the National Museum of Firefighters, the “Vasile Grigore” Art Museum, the Cotroceni National Museum, the Romanian Railways Museum, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, the “Dumitru Furnica Minovici” Museum of Ancient Western Art, the National Museum of Old Maps and Books, the National Museum of Literature, the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism Museum, the Polytechnic University Museum.
