PSD’s Dragnea on presidential candidacy: Don’t expect something spectacular on Sunday evening

Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader Liviu Dragnea stated on Wednesday, in Dolj, that his announcement regarding the presidential elections has been misinterpreted, having stated simply that he will present his point of view on the issue. “Don’t expect something spectacular on Sunday evening,” he added.

“I’ve seen very many comments following my statement, after my interview yesterday (Tuesday – e.n.). Bad comments. I’ve only said what I’ve been saying for month, namely that we’ll discuss, we’ll present our point of view regarding the presidential candidacy after the European Parliament elections,” Liviu Dragnea stated.

He added that he continues to be in favour of the PSD-ALDE alliance having a joint candidate.

“I believe we’ll reach this result. So, don’t expect something spectacular on Sunday evening,” the Social Democratic leader concluded.

Liviu Dragnea stated on Tuesday, when asked whether he has decided to run in the presidential elections next autumn, that the PSD will express a position on this topic on Sunday evening, after the European Parliament elections.

Premier Viorica Dancila stated on Wednesday, referring to PSD leader Liviu Dragnea’s statement regarding a potential run in the presidential elections, that she is convinced a discussion on this topic will take place inside the party.
