Considering the increasing challenges in the economic environment in 2019, the company expects a moderate increase in all the activity fields in Romania, this year.

The number of Bosch employees in Romania has reached around 7,800 employees on December 31, 2018, which represents a 19-percent annual increase. This number is expected to increase in 2019.

Bosch continues to invest in Romania

Bosch invested around RON 555 million (approx. EUR 120 million) in Romania, in 2018 – particularly in the development of the production units for Mobility Solutions in Cluj and Blaj.

The automotive electronic components plant in Jucu, Cluj County, has increased its capacity with the second production unit. The company invested approx. EUR 45 million in the new production hall, which has an area of 43,400 square meters. In Cluj, Bosch produces, since 2013, among other automotive electronic products, electronic control units for airbags, for multiple camera systems and driving assistance, as well as safety electronic systems that increase road safety and drivers’ comfort. Since its opening, the Bosch plant in Cluj delivered more than 150 million auto parts of a high quality to its international clients.

Also, the production unit in Blaj has seen a significant development in 2018, both in terms of production and infrastructure. Due to the high demand, the company has increased the production capacity for auto parts of a high quality, such as oxygen sensors, transmission control parts and sensors for nitrogen oxide emissions. In addition, Bosch will inaugurate this year a new office and laboratory building, where around 250 employees will carry out their activity. Also this year, the plant has relocated its warehouse in a new logistic center having an area of more than 20,000 square meters. As a recognition of its high-quality products, starting from 2020, the Blaj plant will become the coordinating Bosch unit at global level for the production of detonation sensors. The engines equipped with detonation sensors can reduce the fuel consumption, increasing the motor momentum. In addition, the Blaj plant started a professional training partnership with the Technological High School “Timotei Cipariu”, providing financial support and necessary equipment for the workshops. High School students who will specialize in mechanics and electrotechnics will carry out their practice sessions at the Bosch plant.
