Orban: PNL to submit no-confidence motion by end of parliamentary session should the Gov’t not resign

National Liberal Party (PNL) will make all the possible legal and constitutional steps to put an end to this government, and if the Government doesn’t resign, Liberals will file a no-confidence motion by the end of this parliamentary session, the party’s Chairman Ludovic Orban announced.

“We understand from these elections several simple messages from the people. The first message is clear: the overwhelming majority of the Romanian people don’t want PSD to rule the country anymore. For this reason, PNL will make all the possible legal and constitutional steps to put an end to this government. We resume pour request to the Government: Resign, you have no legitimacy anymore to hang on governing! In case the Government will not resign, PNL will file a no-confidence motion against this Government, by the end of this session”, Orban stated.

He said that another message received by politicians after these elections and referendum is that “Romanians have zero tolerance towards corruption”.

We understand very clear from the massive turnout that Romanians want a different kind of ruling, that they expect a different attitude towards the citizen from politicians, a different way of action in the public life, they expect politicians to serve the public interest”, the PNL Chairman added.

He thanked to those who voted and those who voted for PNL. He also had a message to the Romanians who didn’t vote: “People have the power, people can decide a change of direction when things go wrong in a society”.

“Even if Dragnea is no longer the PSD Chairman, PNL continues to fight against PSD’s manner to make politics, against PSD-ism. Only one head of the dragon has been cut off, PSD continues to be a danger for the Romanian democracy and for Romania’s Euro-Atlantic destiny”, the Liberal leader concluded.

As for the result of the referendum, PNL Chairman Ludovic Orban announced that an analysis will be made on changing the laws so that this result will be transposed into the laws.

“We will analyze if there is necessary to amend the Constitution, to amend the laws, and definitely together with the Romanian President, we will make the best decisions”, Orban stated.

PNL is ready to take the responsibility of the government at any time. We have no fear regarding PNL’s ability to bring Romania back on the right way

PNL Chairman Ludovic Orban says that his party is ready “to take the responsibility of the government at any time”, that the government would be taken over by a legitimate manner, given the result of the voting of May 26, and that he has “no fear regarding PNL’s ability to bring Romania back on the right way”.

“National Liberal Party is ready to take the responsibility of the government at any time. We are the second party in the Parliament after PSD, and if we succeed in the fall of this Government that Romanians no longer want, National Liberal Party is ready to take the responsibility of the government. We are ready from all the points of view. In fact, taking the responsibility would be perfectly legitimate, since it is in line with the will of the voters”, the party’s Chairman Ludovic Orban stated at the end of the PNL Executive Bureau’s meeting.

He mentioned that “the best for Romania is that we return to people”.

“The current structure of the Parliament was decided in December 2016, and the will of the Romanians expresses at the referendum and the EP elections is totally different from the one expressed in December 2016. (…) The dimension of the disaster cause by the PSD-ALDE governing is still not known in its entirety. We have regularly pulled the alarm on the irrational way of spending public money, on the unacceptably slow pace of performing the big investment projects and of absorbing the EU funds. We have drawn attention on the execrable quality of those who have been appointed by PSD and ALDE to rule ministries, deconcentrated services, who have totally destroyed Romania’s administrative capacity, we have drawn attention on the aggressive politicizing, on filling the public institutions with amateurs appointed by PSD based on their political card or on kinship relations. We have no fear regarding PNL’s ability to bring Romania back on the right way”, Ludovic Orban said.
