Interim leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Prime Minister Viorica Dancila on Tuesday evening stated, at the end of the Executive Committee of the PSD, that those who did wrong in organising the elections in the Diaspora must be sanctioned and she asked for an analysis, in this respect, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked every governor or consul to organise a certain number of polling stations, as needed, and also a certain number of ballot papers. So here is where we should start from to see who bears the blame for this and must be sanctioned. Regardless who that persons is, since everyone has the right to vote and I believe that we must do all that we can to ensure this right to all citizens of Romania, no matter where they are, inside or outside the country,” said Viorica Dancila.
She mentioned that she asked for an analysis from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and that the government will take “Radical measures” against those who did wrong.
“I asked for an analysis, to see what happened and to take the necessary measures. And I told you that I am going to take radical measures. The ones who did wrong must pay,” reiterated PM Dancila.
Rares Bogdan : PNL is asking Melescanu to urgently resign. We’ll submit a criminal complaint against him for the organization of the voting in Diaspora
The elected MEP of PNL Rares Bogdan says that his party is asking the Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu to urgently resign, and that on Wednesday morning they will submit a criminal complaint against him, for the manner in which the voting in Diaspora was organized.
“According to the estimates, if the electoral process would have been working properly, we would have had between 700,000 and 1,000,000 votes”, Rares Bogdan stated.
He claimed that “a premeditated blocking of the electoral process” took place, given that the voting indicates that the Opposition had the majority of the votes of the Romanian citizens in Diaspora.
“They have no excuse for blocking the voting, therefore we resume our request for the Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu to resign immediately”.
Rares Bogdan also announced the initiation of establishing a parliamentary committee for investigating what happened with the voting in the EP elections, at the polling stations from abroad.
“We don’t forget (…) Those who made the terrible blockage that not even Erdogan, Putin or Maduro didn’t dare to make, will pay”, Rares Bogdan stated.
He added that Romanians have been “humiliated” and picked up from polling stations from abroad, where they couldn’t express their options.
“I am asking to all the responsible parliamentarians to urgently unblock the legislative initiative filed by PNL on the voting by correspondence and the electronic voting, which initiative wasn’t accepted by the Senate and is now at the Legal Committee, at the Deputies’ Chamber, the decisional body”, the PNL representative stated.
“The voting by correspondence and the electronic voting must be mandatorily implemented in the electoral process, and the voting by correspondence must be implemented for the presidential elections”, he stressed.
