DIICOT prosecutors raid Tarom air company

The Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) prosecutors have taken documents on Tuesday morning from Tarom company in an embezzlement case, court sources told AGERPRES.

According to the quoted sources, the raids are taking place at the Technical Department, which provides maintenance services for Tarom’s aircraft fleet.

The enquiry targets a trade union leader and several mechanics from Tarom’s Technical Department.

“This morning, prosecutors with the DIICOT – Central Structure, along with police officers from the Transport Police Directorate, carried out a total of 25 home searches (14 in Bucharest, 7 in Ilfov, 2 in Prahova, Dambovita and Brasov Counties), in a case of criminal prosecution for several acts of embezzlement and corruption by several persons. Also, according to Art.170 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the DIICOT – Central Structure prosecutors are seizing documents from the headquarters of an airline and conducting a search at the work point of a trade union,” reads a press release from DIICOT.
