Prime Minister Viorica Dancila on Thursday stated that, although she never received an answer from the head of state with respect to the new proposals for ministers at the Ministry of Interior (MAI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) and for the office of Deputy PM for Strategic Partnerships, she doesn’t see any reason why President Klaus Iohannis would reject them.
“He never gave me an answer. You know this very well, according to the Administrative Code, he has 10 days at his disposal to give an answer. I hope that it will be a positive answer, for I proposed a competent team, people who were ministers before, so I don’t see why Mr President would give a negative answer,” stated Viorica Dancila on Thursday, at the extraordinary conference held for the elections of the Mehedinti County Branch of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), when asked if the President gave her an answer about the new proposals of ministers.
The PM underscored that, depending on the answer of the head of state, she will make a decision, including at the CExN (the National Executive Committee) meeting of the PSD.
Alongside the PM, attending the conference of the Social Democrats in Mehedinti were also Eugen Teodorovici, the Executive Chair of the PSD and Minister of Public Finance, and Mihai Fifor, General Secretary of the PSD.
All my colleagues decided that we will have our own presidential candidate
PSD Chairperson Viorica Dancila also stated on Thursday that the party’s decision to have its own candidate in the presidential elections was made in the Executive Committee by a majority vote, it wasn’t her decision. Dancila said she talked on the phone with Calin Popescu Tariceanu on this subject and she will meet him, mentioning that it’s important for them to have a common candidate who will have “higher chances”.
“It was not my decision. I repeat it once more, there was a vote within the National Executive Committee, and with one exception, all my colleagues decided that we will have our own candidate. I talked with Mr. Calin Popescu Tariceanu on the phone, I will meet him. It’s important for us to have a common candidate. This gives us higher chances, percentages will be added, a common candidate, possibly supported by other political parties, too but we will discuss about it, I don’t want to say something before discussing it with our colleagues from inside the alliance, and we will see how things will work further, but the vote was given for a PSD candidate. In fact, this was the request of all the organizations where I’ve been so far”, Viorica Dancila stated on Thursday at Drobeta-Turnu Severin, when asked about the presidential candidate.
