Cristian Ghinea, co-chair of the Alliance 2020 USR-PLUS delegation to the European Parliament, on Tuesday got elected Vice Chair of the Committee on Regional Development (REGI) of the European Parliament, informs the Alliance in a press release.
“European funds represent a real chance for Romania’s development. What we fight here for are as many European funds as possible, to be better used. Let’s watch more carefully the real impact, on the last village, instead of just bureaucratically moving the papers around. I will work at REGI on the most important regulations concerning the European funds for the next seven years. We must prepare Romania with a government that will be capable of modernizing, making Romania more European,” said Cristian Ghinea.
According to the same release, Cristian Ghinea, a former Minister of European Funds in the Ciolos Government, specified during the electoral campaign he wished for an important office in this committee, “in order to be able to help with the negotiations under the future EU budgetary exercise, so that our country could benefit of more non-reimbursable money for development.”
