Beginning of the road for 116 students accepted in the plumber classes in the dual vocational education system launched by ENGIE Romania

The start of the school year is an exciting moment also for the 116 students enrolled in the plumber classes in the dual vocational education system established by ENGIE Romania, through the project called “Energie pentru meseria mea” (“Energy for my profession” – e.n.).

Under the partnership concluded between the companies in the ENGIE Romania Group and the partner educational units “Mihai Bravu” Technical College of Bucharest and “Mircea Cristea” Technical College of Brasov, the students benefit from theoretical and practical training provided by the school and the company, for 3 years, based on a practical training agreement. The school provides human and financial resources for the theoretical training, while the company provides the human and financial resources for the practical training of the students enrolled in this form of education.

Thus, for the second year in a row, the ENGIE Romania Group, through its companies Distrigaz Sud Retele S.R.L. and ENGIE Servicii S.R.L., took the initiative to establish a class with the qualification “Technical-sanitary and gas plumbing plumber”, in a dual vocational education system, at the “Mihai Bravu” Technical College of Bucharest. The 30 students enrolled this year will take over the baton from the 56 older fellows who followed the same form of education one year ago. In parallel, ENGIE Romania initiated a class of 30 students at the “Mihai Cristea” Technical College of Brasov. The total amount invested by the company for the qualification of the 116 young professionals in Bucharest and Brasov is RON 5,000,000.

The 100% occupancy rate of the two newly established classes of technical-sanitary and gas plumbing plumbers was due to the extensive information campaign conducted by the company in 155 schools in the counties of Brasov, Buzau, Calarasi, Covasna, Dambovita, Giurgiu, Ilfov and in Bucharest, as well as the media campaign associated to this project. The campaigns highlighted the benefits of enrolling in this form of education, being presented to the students and to their families. The benefits of this program are various: students have the opportunity to accumulate practical experience within the company, they can obtain a qualification at the end of the school, and if they decide to continue their studies, they are eligible in order to hold the baccalaureate exam. Also, those who enroll in this program have the opportunity to obtain a monthly scholarship (in value of RON 500, granted by the company, in addition to the monthly scholarship granted by the Romanian state, which is RON 200), to which, depending on the school results, the performance scholarship of RON 200/month granted by the company can be added, too. In addition, their pre-urban transportation expenses within the limit of RON 150/month can be covered, and lunch can be provided throughout the practical training. Also, at theend of the three years of study, students receive a certification and they have the opportunity to be hired within the ENGIE Group.

As a result of these campaigns, 130 students were interested in this form of education, 1 of 2 students being accepted in the 2019-2020 school cycle.

“The company launched this program in order to provide the students with a high-level educational experience, which will combine the theoretical and practical issues, being meant to contribute in developing the Romanian technical education. We are excited to start on this path having valuable students in our classes, and this makes us believe that the next generation of professionals, which we are preparing now, will meet our clients’ requirements”, stated Diana Ghita, Human Resources and Social Relations Manager of the ENGIE Group Romania.


About the program “Energie pentru meseria mea”


The program was conducted between May and June, 2019, and children and their families were informed about it through an extensive information campaign consisting of dedicated information sessions and materials, conducted in 155 schools in Bucharest and in the counties of Brasov, Buzau, Calarasi, Covasna, Dambovita, Giurgiu and Ilfov. During the 350 information sessions, the benefits of the dual vocational education system were communicated to more than 5,000 children and 2,000 parents. Out of them, 800 students were interested in the program and filled in a pre-registration form, 130 of them submitting the registration papers for the college.
