PSD’s Fifor accuses Iohannis for blocking Ministry of Interior at the top, with no interim Minister to “coordinate the daily battle against murderers and criminals”

The Secretary General of the Social Democrat Party (PSD), Mihai Fifor, says that in the context of the case of the girl killed in the Dambovita County, because of President Klaus Iohannis, the Ministry of Internal Affairs “continues to be blocked at the top, since there is not even an interim Minister to lead the system and coordinate the daily battle of the police officers against murderers and criminals”.

“Mister candidate Iohannis, and gentlemen from PNL, instead of talking about how you block institutions and don’t leave them to modernize, perhaps we should talk with responsibility and without vanity about how all of us can support the institutions to reform and not allow mistakes causing death”, Fifor says.

“Mister President Iohannis, I asked you some time ago if more people need to die to unblock the Government’s activity. At the end of the last week, a new tragedy occurred – another girl, this time from Dambovita, was the victim of a horrible murder. That happened while the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to be blocked at the top, with not even an interim Minister to lead the system and coordinate the daily battle of the police officers against murderers and criminals. Now, when, unfortunately, another tragedy occurred, you cowardly put an at least exotic MP from PNL to attack the Prime Minister and the Government for not allegedly making any steps in the field of public order and safety”, Mihai Fifor stated on Monday in a Facebook post.

He added that, cynically, the Parliament and Iohannis know very well that these steps cannot be made because the Government is blocked.

“Yes, because of you, because you blocked the interim positions, in contempt of the Constitution, old systems with problems lasting for dozens of years, cannot be reformed. Meanwhile, people are dying, and PNL, at your command, is politicizing such situations, because this is how you are accustomed to have audience – in return of people’s suffering”, Fifor says.

He claims that concrete measures have been taken by the Government after the tragedy from Caracal – in legal and institutional terms – to improve the state’s reactions in emergency cases and to allocate additional resources in such cases.

“After that, you blocked us even harder. Mister candidate Iohannis and gentlemen from PNL, instead of talking about how you block institutions and don’t leave them to modernize, perhaps we should talk with responsibility and without vanity about how all of us can support the institutions to reform and not allow mistakes causing death. Perhaps we should see how we can defend Romania from these monsters, some of whom are living in our country, others are coming even from abroad, from countries who have demands related to the security of the citizens in the European area”, Fifor added.

He asked politicians “not to get rating on such topics and seriously get involved on the measures that can really change order and safety”.

Fifor conveyed condolences to the family of the 11 years old little girl from Dambovita. “My heart is sharing their pain, and I hope from all my heart that the guilty person will be punished as he deserves”, Fifor concluded.
