The Social Democratic Party (PSD) will not show up for a vote to endorse a new Government, unless that government signs the Pact on the well-being of Romanians and carries forward the projects for Romania, said Thursday dismissed Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, the national leader of PSD.
On a visit to Constanta County, Dancila said that every politician should be among the people to find out what their problems are.
“I would like to see every politician listen to your voice, see what problems you have, see what path you want to go. You need attention and support every day, not every five years when elections happen. We need to talk to women, children, pensioners, public employees, the private sector, but very few of them are doing it. It is easier to divide and run a country, it is easier to offend than to come up with beautiful words, it’s easier to criticise than to build. These things have to end in Romania. In the one year and eight months that I worked at the Victoria Palace, I helped the local communities as much as I could. We built, others have tried to destroy. They have not completely succeed. I did not say it was a perfect government, but it was an effective government,” added the PSD leader.
Dancila advocated for the continuation of social-democratic policies, so that the doctors no longer leave the country and children find themselves in the local communities.
“Do we want to continue to see hatred and division? Or do we all want to unite, whether we are social-democrats or something else? Or do we want people in good faith in this country to fight to make a future for ourselves, to fight for each of us to be treated with dignity and respect, to fight so that our parents and grandparents never cry again? To fight for our farmers continuing to receive subsidies on time and to be supported? Do we want to fight for this country to be of Romanians and not of those who wish the worst for us? All this depends on us, on how involved we will be, how united we will be. (…) Let’s see what has happened: six men, they say important, ousted a government, but what did they put in its place? Nothing! I am asking you: do we know what awaits us the next day after a new government comes in? We don’t know if they wish the best for the Romanians. Where do all of you who are here fit into their plans? Where do you fit in their government programme? You don’t count for them. You are mere figures for them, they do not understand that behind the figures there are people who have hopes, expectations, people who think about their family, people who want to live better in their country. They cannot understand that because they do not love people and do not respect us. Therefore, PSD will not show up to vote for the new government. We cannot endorse a government as long as it does not sign on not cutting pensions and wages, advancing the projects for Romania,” said Dancila.
She added that Romania needs leaders who should stay neither at the Government House or the Presidential Palace, but to come among the people.
If new Gov’t doesn’t pass Parliament, they must at least designate interim ministers for elections
Dismissed Prime Minister on Thursday evening said in Constanta that, in the event that the new government doesn’t pass Parliament, President Klaus Iohannis should “at least designate” interim ministers for the organisation of the presidential elections.
She told a press conference that national interest should come first, before the electoral interest.
Asked if she will take care of the organisation of the presidential elections, in the event that the new government will not be validated before the first round, Dancila said: “I don’t have an Interior minister. In my opinion, the President should, first of all, but we all know that when he says that he does something “immediately,” it actually means a lot of time, but maybe Mr President could observe the Constitution this time, for we do have a decision of the Constitutional Court saying something about some interim ministers. So that, if the government doesn’t pass, he should at least designate interim ministers to organise the elections, and also an interim minister at Energy, winter is coming. In other words, I believe that national interest should come first, before the electoral interest.”
Viorica Dancila said, personally, she wishes the Opposition to meet the same majority it had when voting for the censure motion, and pass Parliament.
“I wish they’ll meet the same majority they had when voting for the censure motion, so that we have a new government. Because I know that it’s not me, Viorica Dancila, who is so important, but more important is what happens with the country. And you know very well that right now, as an interim PM, as an interim government, we cannot adopt laws, we cannot adopt emergency ordinances, and winter is coming, people are confused, and this is not good for the country, which is why I leave my personal interest aside or the party’s interest, because more important is what happens with the country. I wish we will have a government as soon as possible,” the dismissed Prime Minister said.
Dancila at campaign rally: You don’t matter to them, you are mere numbers. They don’t understand that there are people behind the numbers
Earlier in the day, she stated at a campaign rally in Constanta County, that people do not matter to those who are now getting ready to govern, people being mere numbers to them. Dancila told voters to tell those they talk with that “we must take our country back.”
She took the opportunity to say that people must fight to build their future themselves and must be treated with dignity.
“Do we want to continue seeing hatred and division or do we want us all to unite, regardless whether we are Social Democrats or people of good faith in this country, to fight in order to build our future ourselves, to fight in order to be treated with dignity and respect, to fight so that our parents and grandparents would never cry again, to fight so that our farmers would continue to collect their subsidies on time and to be supported, to fight so that this country would belong to Romanians, not to those who want us harm. All of this depends on us, on how committed we will be, on how united we will be,” Viorica Dancila said.
The PSD leader also said that the people are not included in the plans of those who are now getting ready to govern, that people do not matter to them, being mere numbers.
“All of you here, where do you fit in their plans? Where do you fit in their governance programme? You do not matter to them; you are mere numbers to them. They do not understand that people are behind the numbers, people who have hopes, expectations, people who think about their families, people who want to live better in their country. They cannot understand these things because they do not love people and they do not respect us. That is why the PSD will not attend the voting for the new Government. We cannot endorse a Government as long as they do not sign that they will not cut pensions and salaries,” Dancila explained.
She added that leaders who love people are needed and those in attendance must tell everyone that “we must take our country back.”
“We need leaders who love people, leaders who would not sit at the Victoria Palace or at the Cotroceni Palace but would come among you. We need leaders who are sensitive to your problems, we need leaders who love this country and wish that it be treated with dignity both internally and externally. I’m convinced that we can all do this, you, the ones you will talk with, tell them all that we must take our country back,” Viorica Dancila added.
