PM-designate Orban: There is a state of emergency to have a new Gov’t next week. We have established a strategy to face the PSD’s boycott

Prime Minister-designate Ludovic Orban said on Sunday that the Government should be invested as soon as possible, since there is a state of emergency.

“There si a state of emergency. Romania needs a fully empowered Government, a Government that was legitimated by the Parliament’s vote, a Government that must solve the big problems that we face in the situation in which we are today. Our goal is to have a Government next week”, the PM-designate also stated.

He announced he established several strategies to fight the PSD’s boycott and to mobilize the parliamentarians. “In the circumstances in which our partners who were with us at the no confidence motion will go until the end, I am confident that we have very big chances to get the investiture from the first time”, National Liberal party (PNL) chair stated on Sunday.

“We have established a strategy in case we’ll face a boycott. We have prepared a mobilization strategy, we introduced in the Governing Program things requested by our partners in order to fight PSD’s boycott, as well as to mobilize parliamentarians. We discussed, we made an additional assessment for each partner and an assessment of the situation in the Parliament, and we established exactly who we will talk with next week”, Orban stated.

Asked about how he will counter the PSD boycott, the designated PM stated: “We have to ensure the quorum, which means we have to identify at least one member in the Joint Standing Bureaus who will attend the meeting. We have to convene the Joint Standing Bureaus, in case that the Speakers of the two Chambers will not convene the Joint Standing Bureaus through the convocation procedure with at least one third. I will not give you all the details of the established plan”.

In addition, Orban announced that he established an as short as possible calendar.

“We will submit it on Thursday or Friday, and the hearing should be on Monday or Tuesday, and if the ministers will be heard by the committees on Monday, the voting should be on Tuesday; if the hearing will be on Tuesday, the voting should be on Wednesday”, Ludovic Orban mentioned.
