Iohannis: Romanian state has much to learn from experience of Romanians abroad

The Romanian state has much to learn from the experience already gathered by the Romanians living abroad, says President Klaus Iohannis in a message sent on Saturday, on the occasion of the 11th edition of the Global Romanian Society of Young Professionals (GRASP) annual conference.

The event took place in Barcelona, Spain, and the message was presented by state adviser Sanda Pralong.

“The Romanian state still has much to learn from the experience already gathered by the Romanians living abroad, as well as from the public policies of other countries which were confronted over time with the migration phenomenon and which knew how to capitalise on the presence of a significant Diaspora for developing the origin country,” the head of state’s message reads.

He appreciated the intention of the participants of drafting a report based on the conference talks and the specialists’ expertise.

“I hope that, soon, a wiser Government than the one we have had over the past few years will know how to truly mobilise the Diaspora’s energies to the benefit of modernising Romania,” the head of state underscored.
