USR (Save Romania Union) President Dan Barna said that the list of objectives agreed with the PNL (National Liberal party) Government when the latter was taking over was “not even half” met yet, but the Prime Minister, Ludovic Orban, told him at a meeting that the outstanding items are also considered.
“I met yesterday afternoon with Prime Minister Ludovic Orban for a stage analysis of the compliance of the commitments that PNL made to USR on the occasion of the Government’s investment vote and a discussion on the political context generated by the Government announcement that it will assume responsibility for the law on the election of mayors in two rounds and the prospects for early polls. As you know, the USR and PNL signed before the Government’s investment a political agreement with several points aimed at solving urgent problems that the Romanians have asked us to solve,” Barna wrote on Saturday, on his Facebook page.
According to the USR leader, the agreement was aimed at the compensatory appeal law, the abolition of the Section for Investigating Magistrates, the election of mayors in two rounds, a fair representation of the Diaspora in Parliament, the repeal of the harmful provisions of the Ordinance No. 114, the reduction of the taxation on the minimum salary, the prioritization of the infrastructure projects, the launch of the project meant to repair and expand the national network for air quality monitoring, the real monitoring of timber cuts.
“We found together that only part of the agreement’s provisions have been fulfilled so far. We are not yet halfway through the list of objectives met. And I told this to Prime Minister Orban. USR has respected and will always respect its word and we expect our dialogue partners to do the same. During the discussion, Prime Minister Orban confirmed that the other outstanding goals are being considered. We will continue to support the reforms made in the interest of the population and we will always criticize the abandonment or hesitations that deviate us from the path to the country that we all want,” USR national leader added.
