Standing Bureau approves draft decision to amend Regulation of Deputies’ Chamber: In exceptional situations, the activity will be carried out online

The Standing Bureau of the Deputies’ Chamber approved on Tuesday the amendment of the regulation so that the activity of the legislative forum be carried out online in exceptional situations, establishing the procedure in this case. The draft decision in this regard is to be submitted to the plenary’s approval in the first meeting.

The draft decision regarding the supplementation of the Regulation of the Chamber of Deputies “in exceptional situations, established by the authorised authorities, such as epidemics, pandemic, extreme natural phenomenon, earthquakes, acts of terrorism and other situations that make the deputies’ presence impossible at the Deputies’ Chamber headquarters, the meetings of the Standing Bureau of the Deputies’ Chamber, of the Leaders’ Committee of the parliamentary groups, the meetings of the specialist committees of the Deputies’ Chamber, as well as the plenary meetings of the Chamber of Deputies will be carried out through electronic means through a procedure which will be approved by the Standing Bureau of the Deputies’ Chamber.”

The decision to declare such an exceptional situation falls to the Standing Bureau of the Deputies’ Chamber, after the consultation of the Leaders’ Committee of the parliamentary groups, the draft stipulates.

The procedure in this case is also established.
