PM Orban: We have to prepare budget revision to redirect sums to priorities

Prime Minister Ludovic Orban has demanded that Minister of Finance Florin Citu send the main authorizing officers to be prepared for the budget revision, so that the amounts to be reallocated are redirected to priorities.

“We have to prepare the budget revision, we have to send to all the main authorizing officers, so that we can redirect the amounts to priorities and also take into account the effects on the revenues and, especially, the financing solutions in the context in which a reduction in revenues will obviously appear,” said Ludovic Orban on Thursday at the Government meeting.

Minister of Public Finance Florin Citu stated that he had transmitted to the authorizing officers the elements regarding the budget revision, adding that through the Emergency Ordinance 29/2020 the legislation was already modified to be able to make the revision before the end of the first year half.

At the same time, the head of the Executive pointed out that at the level of the European Union and the European Commission there will be “a relaxation in the implementation of the deficit rules”.

The finance minister said that the Government on Thursday drew new financing from internal markets.

“This week we attracted almost 2 billion lei, so we still have confidence in the financial system and we can finance ourselves, we will see in the next period,” Citu said, according to Agerpres.
