Fitpass adapts to Corona crisis with live streamed fitness classes

Romanian fitness startup [fitpass.ro], that has been active on the Romanian market for three and a half years just launched live streamed online classes. Their business, which gives their members access to 100s of gyms & fitness centers across Romania, got hit hard when the Corona crisis hit.

“Gyms & Fitness studios across the country were forced to shut down and as such, Fitpass temporarily suspended the subscriptions of all our members. While it’s uncertain for how long the gyms will remain closed, we started looking for solutions right away so that our partners could also offer their classes online”, says CEO Gustaf Kornias.

Fitpass has already on-boarded 16 fitness partners who combined offer over 100 live online classes per week in Bucharest. There are many more partners in the pipeline and the number of activities increase on a daily basis. While most of the on-boarded partners are based in Bucharest, Fitpass is in the process of adding more live online classes across Romania.

“We are still new to live streaming and are currently learning together with our partners to continuously improve the online experience” says CTO Ciprian Hetea.

This quick pivot offers an alternative way for people to stay active, fit and healthy while being restricted at home. This solution offers a fun, social and highly varied fitness experience. At the same time, it offers gyms & fitness providers a way to make money during this tough period.

“We have already started seeing the effects of this pivot with people buying again and members un-suspending their subscriptions. At the same time, we are getting more requests from companies who want to use this solution to help their employees access quality workouts from home” says CEO Gustaf Kornias.

Individuals who want to access the online classes can buy like normal by accessing the Fitpass website and downloading the app.

The Fitpass solution works like normal with the key difference being that the check-ins are now made online.

For any gym, fitness studio or personal trainer in Romania who is interested to offer their services online through Fitpass, please contact Gustaf Kornias at gustaf@fitpass.ro or call at 0721 406 115.

Fitpass is operated by Swedish Founder Gustaf Kornias and Romanian partner Ciprian Hetea.
