GCS: 4,417 people infected with novel coronavirus in Romania so far, 184 deaths

A number of 4,417 people have been confirmed so far in Romania with the novel coronavirus, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Tuesday.

Since the last information sent by GCS, another 360 cases of illness have been registered.

Of the infected persons, 460 were declared cured and discharged from hospital.

As many as 274 patients are admitted to intensive care units.

According to the cited source, 184 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.

The number of cases confirmed by counties, according to the reports of the National Institute of Public Health, are: Alba – 50 cases, Arad – 161, Argeş – 31 , Bacău – 47, Bihor – 55, Bistriţa Năsăud – 70, Botoşani – 86, Braşov – 156, Brăila – 12 , Buzău – 13 , Caraş Severin – 23 , Călăraşi – 33 , Cluj – 119, Constanţa – 119, Covasna – 55, Dâmboviţa – 25, Dolj – 29 , Galaţi – 133, Giurgiu – 34, Gorj – 7 cazuri, Harghita – 3, Hunedoara – 158, Ialomiţa – 72, Iaşi – 92, Ilfov – 99 , Maramureş – 43, Mehedinţi – 13, Mureş – 92, Neamţ – 182, Olt – 11, Prahova – 36, Satu Mare – 27, Sălaj – 11, Sibiu -69 , Suceava – 1.322, Teleorman – 31, Timiş – 191, Tulcea – 6, Vaslui – 15, Vâlcea – 9, Vrancea – 79, Bucharest – 598.

 

1,700 self-isolation rule breakers placed in institutional quarantine

 

As many as 1,700 persons who broke self-isolation rules have been placed in institutional quarantine since the coming into force of Military Ordinance No. 2, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) also said on Tuesday.

According to the cited source, 57 quarantined persons illegally left their designated residences and were therefore ordered a new 14-day quarantine period.

 

326 criminal cases opened for offense of hindering disease combat

 

A number of 326 criminal cases have been opened through the authorised structures of the Interior Ministry (MAI) for the offense of hindering disease combat, a felony stipulated and punished by article 352 of the Criminal Code, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs.

In the last 24 hours, police have detected 6,757 people who did not comply with the measure regarding the restriction of movement. Contravention sanctions in the amount of 16,497,175 lei have been enforced.

The GCS reminds citizens to only take into consideration verified information from official sources and to call the TELVERDE line – 0800 800 358 for recommendations and other information. The TELVERDE line is not an emergency number, but a phone line strictly dedicated to informing citizens. Romanians abroad can also request information on preventing and combating the virus at a dedicated phone line: +4021.320.20.20.

Until 6 April, 582,554 COVID-19 cases were reported in the EU / EEA, United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most of the cases were registered in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.

 

631 Romanian citizens abroad positive for coronavirus; in diaspora, number of deaths stands at 29

 

A total of 631 Romanian citizens abroad tested positive for the novel coronavirus, and the number of Romanians that died following infection with SARS-CoV-2, abroad, remains 29, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs.

According to the GCS, of the 631 Romanian citizens confirmed as infected with the novel coronavirus: 400 are in Italy, 193 in Spain, 15 in France, 8 in Germany, 6 in the United Kingdom, 2 in Namibia, 2 in Indonesia and one each in Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Belgium and the US.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and up to now, 29 Romanian citizens have died abroad – 9 in Italy, 7 in France, 6 in the UK, 6 in Spain and one in Germany.
