GCS: 441 new cases of people infected with novel coronavirus in Romania, death toll reaches 229

As many as 441 new cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been registered in Romania since the last update, taking the total number of infections to 5,202, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Thursday.

Of the infected persons, 647 were declared cured and discharged from hospital.

A number of 178 patients are being treated in intensive care units.

According to the cited source, 229 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.

 

51,802 coronavirus tests processed nationwide so far

 

As many as 51,802 coronavirus tests have been processed nationwide as of this Thursday, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports.

There have been 648 calls to the single emergency number 112 in the past 24 hours and 2,398 to the 0800.800.358 TELVERDE citizens’ support line.

The authorities advise the citizens to only take into consideration verified information from official sources and call for recommendations and other information the TELVERDE line, at 0800.800.358. TELVERDE is not an emergency line, but a hotline strictly dedicated to informing the citizens.

Romanians abroad can also request information on preventing and combating the coronavirus at a dedicated phone line: +4021.320.20.20.

 

1,917 self-isolation rule breakers placed in institutional quarantine

 

A number of 1,917 persons who broke self-isolation rules have been placed in institutional quarantine since the entry into force of Military Ordinance no. 2 and up to now, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Thursday.

According to the quoted source, 61 quarantined persons illegally left their designated residences, and were therefore ordered a new 14-day quarantine period.

Romania’s confirmed coronavirus ( SARS-CoV-2) infection cases stood at 5,202 as of this Thursday, with 647 people declared cured and discharged from hospital.

 

341 criminal cases opened for offense of hindering disease combat

 

A number of 341 criminal cases have been opened through the authorised structures of the Interior Ministry (MAI) for the offense of hindering disease combat, a felony stipulated and punished by article 352 of the Criminal Code, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Thursday.

In the last 24 hours, police have detected 7,741 people who did not comply with the restriction of movement rules. Contravention sanctions in the amount of 16,647,253 lei have been enforced.

Until 8 April, 608,500 COVID-19 cases were reported in the EU / EEA, United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most of the cases were registered in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.

 

Most coronavirus infection cases in Suceava County, Bucharest

 

Most cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been registered so far in the north-eastern Suceava County – 1,487 and Bucharest – 659.

According to the Strategic Communication Group, on Romania’s territory there are a total of 5,202 people infected with the new coronavirus.

One more Romanian dies abroad from coronavirus; out-of-country death toll – 38

 

One more Romanian has died abroad due to COVID-19, in Germany; the total number of deaths of Romanian citizens abroad thus reached 38, while 679 have tested positive for coronavirus, informs the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

According to the cited source the Romanians having tested positive for coronavirus in Tunisia and Indonesia have been declared cured.

The GCS informs that of the 679 Romanian citizens confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus, 418 are in Italy, 196 – in Spain, 16 – in France, 9 – in Germany, 32 – in the United Kingdom, 2 – in Namibia, 2 – in USA and one in each Ireland, Luxembourg, Belgium and Sweden.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and up to this moment as many as 38 Romanian citizens have died abroad: 11 in Italy, 7 in France, 11 in the UK, 6 in Spain, two in Germany and one in Sweden.
