GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 death toll rises to 392

Five more people infected with the novel coronavirus have died, with the latest death toll in Romania standing at 392, the Strategic Communication Group, the official coronavirus communication task force, reported on Thursday.

It is about two women and three men, between the ages of 50 and 89.

 

22,866 persons are now under institutionalized quarantine; other 60,697 isolating at home

 

There are 22,866 people currently in institutional quarantine in Romania, and another 60,697 are in isolation at home under medical monitoring, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official coronavirus communication task force, reported on Thursday.

According to the same source, there have been processed 79,629 tests at national level until now.

Since the coming into force of Military Ordinance 2 and so far, 2,078 persons have been put in institutional quarantine for having broken the self-isolation rule.

Also, 104 quarantined persons have left their initial quarantine places and were ordered an additional 14-day quarantine.

As many as 447 calls to the 112 emergency number and 1,917 calls to the TEL VERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially for the citizens to get their information, have been recorded in the past 24 hours.

 

491 cases of new infections, total number of persons tested positive reaches 7,707

 

A number of 491 new cases of persons infected with the novel coronavirus have been registered in Romania since the latest information, the total number of persons who tested positive for COVID-19 thus reaching 7,707, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) also informed on Thursday.

A number of 1,357 persons have been declared recovered and were discharged.

243 patients are treated in intensive care units.

 

417 criminal proceedings initiated for hampering disease prevention efforts

 

A number of 417 criminal proceedings have been initiated by the relevant structures of the Ministry of Interior over hampering disease prevention efforts, which crime is sanctioned under the art. 352 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Thursday.

According to this source, the policemen and gendarmes identified 6,171 persons in the past 24 hours who did not observe the measures imposed by the authorities regarding the movement restrictions. These persons were enforced fines worth 13,062,175 lei.

GCS reminds the citizens to take into account only the information provided by the official sources and to call TELVERDE – 0800.800.358 line if they need recommendations or other information. The TELVERDE line was especially created to inform the citizens and it’s not an emergency line.

Moreover, Romanians abroad can ask for information on prevention and fighting the virus by calling the special line dedicated to them +4021.320.20.20.

There have been 827,180 cases in the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra reported until April 15. Most cases have been recorded in Spain, Italy, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.

 

Suceava County, Bucharest City topping Romania’s COVID-19 caseload

 

Most of the cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Romania have been so far reported in Suceava County – 1,910 and Bucharest City – 866.

According to the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official coronavirus communication task force, there are a total of 7,707 people infected with the novel coronavirus in Romania.
