Metropolitan Life, one of the most important players on the Romanian insurance and private pension market, is joining the „Donate for first responders” campaign and has allocated 1 million lei meant to support the efforts made by doctors, military personnel and police officers fighting in the front line against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The platform „Donate for first responders” was launched by eMag, in collaboration with Banca Transilvania, Mobexpert and BitDifender, with the support of Metropolitan Life, and it represents one of the largest donation platform in Romania. So far, the donations have accumulated almost 7 million lei, with the involvement of over 1,100 companies and over 20,000 individuals.
All necessities are being centralized weekly by the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU) in collaboration with Ministry of Health and takes into account the basic needs for those directly exposed to the risk of infection. Thus, 350,000 N95 masks (FFP2), with a high degree of protection, were donated to hospitals in Romania. Also, over 5 million three-ply protective masks were distributed to physicians, police officers, gendarmes and the military through the Emergency Department.
“Especially now, protection remains the defining element of our DNA. Caring for people and the desire to protect them are essential to the entire Metropolitan Life activity, and in the face of this coronavirus challenge, it is our duty to be with those in need. Together with our trusted partners from eMag, Banca Transilvania, Mobexpert and BitDifender, we want to provide support to first-line heroes who are making immense efforts to get us back to our daily lives as soon as possible. Although isolated, we are more united than ever in our struggle for life,” said Carmina Dragomir, CEO of Metropolitan Life.
Further, donations are needed to protect those in the front line who are exposed to the risk of contracting COVID-19 on a daily basis. Donations can be made exclusively online or through bank transfer, on www.emag.ro/doneaza. At the same time, information about the donated amounts, products and their prices, as well as the beneficiaries to whom they were distributed, will be recorded in real time and will be made public directly on the platform.
