GCS: 303 new cases of persons infected with the novel coronavirus, total number reaches 11,339

A number of 303 new cases of persons infected with the novel coronavirus have been recorded in Romania since the last report, with the total number of cases thus reaching 11,339, the Strategic Communication Group informed on Monday.

Among the persons infected, 3,141 were declared cured and discharged from hospital.

There are 227 patients admitted to ICUs.

According to the same source, 631 persons diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.

Most cases of infections with the novel coronavirus have been so far recorded in Suceava County – 2,650 and Bucharest – 1,190.

11,906 persons in institutional quarantine; 23,012 in self-isolation

 

As many as of 11,906 people are in institutional quarantine in Romania and another 23,012 are in isolation at home and are under medical monitoring, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official coronavirus information task force, reported on Monday at noon.

Since the entry into force of Military Ordinance No.2, 2,217 people who have broken the period of self-isolation have been placed in institutional quarantine.

Also, 168 people in quarantine left their quarantine location to go into a further 14-day quarantine.

To date, 143,834 tests for SARS-CoV-2 infection have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 425 calls were recorded to the 112 emergency line and 1,197 to the 0800 800 358 toll-free coronavirus info line.

 

Another Romanian infected with novel coronavirus dies; death toll in diaspora reaches 75

 

Another Romanian infected with the novel coronavirus has died in the United Kingdom, taking the caseload of deaths of Romanian citizens abroad because of COVID-19 up to 75, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Monday.

According to the GCS, 1,518 Romanian citizens abroad have been confirmed as infected with COVID-19: 1,157 in Italy, 226 in Spain, 26 in France, 16 in Germany, 67 in the United Kingdom, 2 in Namibia, 2 in the US, 4 in Austria, 3 in Belgium, 3 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg and Sweden.

Since the start of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic and up to now, a number of 75 Romanian citizens abroad have died: 19 in Italy, 16 in France, 24 in the United Kingdom, 8 in Spain, 3 in Germany, 2 in Belgium and one each in Sweden, Switzerland and the US.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the novel coronavirus, 21 were cured: 9 in Germany, 8 in France, 2 in Indonesia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia, the GCS shows.

 

Law enforcement opens 490 criminal files over hampering disease control

 

A number of 490 criminal files have been drawn up by the relevant departments of the Interior Ministry (MAI) for hampering disease control, an offence punished under Article 352 (1) of the Criminal Code, the Strategic Communication Group, the official coronavirus information task force, reported on Monday.

In the last 24 hours, police officers and gendarmes found 5,406 people who were not complying with the measure regarding movement restriction. They were fined 10,239,120 lei.

People are reminded to consider only the information verified through official sources and to call the 0800.800.358 toll-free coronavirus information line for recommendations and other information.

Romanians abroad can request information on preventing and combating the virus by calling the line specially dedicated to them +4021.320.20.20.

As of April 26, 2020, 1,070,956 cases had been reported in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most of the cases were in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
