MAI’s spokesperson: About 36,000 police, gendarmes, firefighters to watch for the citizens’ protection during the weekend

About 36,000 police, gendarmes, firefighters and border police backed by other operational structures, as well as local police and troops will keep watch for the citizens’ protection during this extended weekend, spokesperson of the Ministry of the Interior Monica Dajbog said on Thursday.

More than 150 intervention crews consisting of 4 to 10 ministry workers will be in standby for serious cases; police, k9 gendarmerie and mounted gendarmerie squads will also be deployed in field.

“The public order personnel will focus on the travel routes to tourist regions, leisure areas and other areas where various outdoor activities, picnics or parties are organized in normal times. In order to track down the people who knowingly violate movement restrictions, the ground squads will get aerial support from aircraft of the General Aviation Inspectorate,” Monica Dajbog said, according to Agerpres.

Police and gendarmes will also check the compliance with the ban on people placed in isolation or quarantine, patrolling also the areas of hospitals and quarantine locations.

As far as emergencies are concerned, approximately 5,700 firefighters with 3,400 vehicles equipped for various types of missions, such as firefighting, extrication and first aid, will be ready for intervention in the coming days.

The helicopters and the Cessna plane of the Aviation Inspectorate General will be ready to intervene for the transport of patients in urgent need of specialized medical assistance.

“More than 4,500 border police will carry out the daily border surveillance and control missions this weekend. They will also act as support forces alongside police and gendarmerie squads in other operational missions for the enforcement of the measures imposed through the military ordinances,” said the official of the Ministry of the Interior.
