PM Orban: Normative acts to compensate farmers affected by drought to be prepared after assessment in the field is completed
The normative acts based on which compensations will be grated to farmers affected by this year’s drought are to be drafted no earlier than two-three weeks, the necessary period to complete the findings in the field, Prime Minister Ludovic Orban stated in Iasi on Thursday.
“The joint order of the Agriculture Minister and the Interior Minister has been issued regarding the establishment of the committees assessing damages, that are already in the field for a long time, the findings are made in the field, the process will take longer, probably another two or three weeks, because there are many farms affected and they have to make a correct assessment. After this assessment, the normative acts will be prepared to be the basis for the payment of compensations,” PM Orban mentioned.
According to the PM, “for about 11 years,” farmers have not been compensated for the damages caused by drought. “We will allocate the necessary amounts of money,” he added.
