GCS: Romania’s coronavirus death toll hits 755

Another 11 persons infected with the novel coronavirus have passed away, the number of the deceased from this cause reached 755, on Saturday informed the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

The persons who died due to the novel coronavirus are from the counties Bacau, Neamt, Mures, Brasov, Iasi, Arges, Vaslui. Among the deceased is a 37-year-old man of Brasov and a 42-year-old man from Mures, the other persons being over 60.


165 new cases of novel coronavirus infection take total number of cases to 12,732


As many as 165 new cases of persons infected with the novel coronavirus have been registered in Romania since the latest information, the total number of cases thus reaching 12,732, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Saturday.

From among the persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus, 4,547 were declared recovered and were discharged.

265 patients are admitted to ICUs.



13,302 people placed in institutionalized quarantine, other 20,198 isolated at home


A number of 13,302 persons have been placed in institutionalized quarantine in Romania and other 20,198 are isolated at home under medical supervision, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Saturday.

As many as 2,249 persons have been placed in institutionalized quarantine since the coming into force of Military Ordinance No. 2 up to now because they failed to observe the self-isolation period.

Moreover, 181 persons left the location where they were placed under quarantine, for which reason they were placed again under quarantine for a new interval of 14 days.

To date, 190,540 tests have been processed nationwide.

In the past 24 hours, there were recorded 470 calls to the 112 single emergency number and 1,176 to the TEL VERDE (0800 800 358), which was opened especially to inform citizens.


2,349 Romanians abroad infected with novel coronavirus, with 93 dead so far


The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) also informed on Saturday that 2,349 Romanians abroad have been so far infected with the novel coronavirus, whereas the death toll of Romanian citizens abroad caused by COVID-19 reached 93.

Of the 2,349 Romanian citizens abroad who tested positive for COVID-19, 1,387 are in Italy, 560 in Spain, 29 in France, 271 in Germany, 71 in the United Kingdom, 2 in Namibia, 3 in the US, 4 in Austria, 3 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Malta and Sweden.

Since the start of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic and up to now, as many as 93 Romanian nationals abroad have passed away as follows: 29 in Italy, 19 in France, 28 in the United Kingdom, 8 in Spain, 4 in Germany, 2 in Belgium and one each in Sweden, Switzerland and the US, the GCS mentions.

Of the Romanian citizens abroad confirmed with the novel coronavirus, 21 were cured: 9 in Germany, 8 in France, 2 in Indonesia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
