GCS: Romania’s case count of people infected with novel coronavirus rises by 190 to 16,437

A number of 190 new cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been recorded in Romania since the last information that bring the total case count to 16,437, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official coronavirus communication task force, reported on Friday at noon.

Of the people confirmed positive, 9,370 have been declared cured and discharged.

As many as 219 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care.

To date, 1,056 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died in Romania.

 

COVID-19 patient updates: 14,441 in quarantine, 14,791 in home isolation

 

A number of 14,441 people are in institutional quarantine in Romania as a result of the novel coronavirus epidemic, and another 14,791 people are in isolation at home and under medical monitoring, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official coronavirus communication task force, reported on Friday at noon.

Between the entry into force of Military Ordinance 2 and the end of the state of emergency, 2,304 persons were placed in institutional quarantine for violating self-isolation.

Also, 238 people in quarantine left the quarantine locations to go on a further 14-day quarantine.

To date, 294,601 tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 364 calls were reported to the 112 emergency line and 3,798 to the 0800 800 358 toll-free coronavirus information line.

 

Suceava County, Bucharest City topping Romania’s COVID-19 case count at 3,386, 1,591, respectively

 

Most of the cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Romania have so far been reported in Suceava County – 3,386 and in Bucharest City – 1,591.

According to the Strategic Communication Group, (GCS), the official coronavirus communication task force, there are currently a total of 16,437 people infected with the novel coronavirus in Romania.

One more Romanian abroad infected with novel coronavirus dies;out-of-country death toll – 103

 

One more Romanian infected with the novel coronavirus has died in the UK, and the COVID-19 death toll of Romanian citizens abroad reaches 103, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Friday.

Of the 2,887 Romanian citizens abroad who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, 1,698 are in Italy, 561 in Spain, 29 in France, 453 in Germany, 86 in the United Kingdom, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 3 in the US, 4 in Austria, 3 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil and Sweden.

Since the start of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic and up to now, a number of 103 Romanian citizens abroad have died: 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 34 in the United Kingdom, 8 in Spain, 5 in Germany, 2 in Belgium and one each in Sweden, Switzerland, the US and Brazil.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the novel coronavirus, 22 were declared cured: 9 in Germany, 9 in France, 2 in Indonesia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia, the GCS shows.

 

Law enforcement opens 578 criminal files over hampering disease control

 

A number of 578 criminal cases have been opened so far by the relevant departments of the Interior Ministry over hampering disease control, as penalised under Article 352(1) of the Criminal Code, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official coronavirus communication task force, reported on Friday.

The public is reminded to consider only information verified through official sources and to call the 0800.800.358 toll-free coronavirus information line for recommendations and other information.

Also, Romanians abroad can request information on preventing and combating the virus by calling +4021.320.20.20.

As of May 14, 2020 at noon there were 1,277,188 cases reported in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most cases were located in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
