GCS reports 165 new COVID-19 cases in Romania; total number of infections – 17,036, deaths – 1,107

A number of 165 cases of persons infected with the novel coronavirus was recorded in Romania since the last informative bulletin, the number thus reaching 17,036 infections, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced Monday.

Of the persons confirmed positive, 9,930 were declared healed and discharged.

There are 193 patients in intensive care.

Up to now, 1,107 persons diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.

 

12,351 people under institutional quarantine, 17,797 – in home isolation

 

A total of 12,351 people are placed under institutional quarantine in Romania, and another 17,797 are in isolation at home, under medical monitoring, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Monday.

As many as 313,621 coronavirus tests have been processed nationwide to this date.

There have been 393 calls to the single emergency number 112 in the past 24 hours and 1,079 to the 0800 800 358 toll-free citizens’ support line.

GCS urges the Romanians to consider only the information verified through official sources and to call the 0800.800.358 toll-free line for recommendations and other information. This is not an emergency number, but a phone line strictly dedicated to informing the citizens.

Romanians abroad can request information on the prevention and control of the coronavirus on a dedicated line +4021.320.20.20.

As many as 1,303,853 COVID-19 cases were reported as of May 17 in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most of the cases were registered in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.

 

Suceava County, Bucharest City topping Romania’s COVID-19 case count at 3,448, 1,644, respectively

 

Most of the cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Romania have so far been reported in Suceava County – 3,448 and in Bucharest City – 1,644.

According to the Strategic Communication Group, (GCS), the official coronavirus communication task force, there are currently a total of 17,036 people infected with the novel coronavirus in Romania.

2,920 Romanian citizens abroad infected with novel coronavirus;out-of-country death toll – 103

 

As many as 2,920 Romanian citizens abroad have been confirmed with the novel coronavirus, the Strategic Communication Group informs on Monday.

“As regards the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, according to information obtained by the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania abroad, 2,920 Romanian citizens were confirmed as being infected with the novel coronavirus as follows: 1,698 in Italy, 561 in Spain, 30 in France, 484 in Germany, 87 in the United Kingdom, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 3 in the USA, 4 in Austria, 3 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil and Sweden,” the source said.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic to date, 103 Romanian citizens abroad have died: 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 34 in the UK, 8 in Spain, 5 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA and one in Brazil.
