GCS: With 155 new cases, Romania has a total of 17,191 people confirmed as infected with the novel coronavirus

As many as 155 new cases of people infected with the new coronavirus have been registered in Romania since the last information, thus taking the total number of cases to 17,191, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Tuesday.

From among the persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus, 10,166 were declared cured and discharged from hospital.

As many as 195 patients are admitted to intensive care units.

So far, 1,126 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have passed away.

 

11,808 people in institutionalized quarantine, other 24,415 people in isolation at home due to COVID-19

 

As many as 11,808 people are in an institutionalized quarantine on Romanian territory as a result of the novel coronavirus epidemic, and another 24,415 are in isolation at home under medical monitoring, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Tuesday.

According to the source, 322,074 tests have been processed at the national level so far.

In the last 24 hours, 463 calls were recorded at the single emergency number 112 and 1,869 at the 0800 800 358 toll-free citizens’ support line.

GCS urges the Romanians to consider only the information verified through official sources and to call the 0800.800.358 toll-free line for recommendations and other information. This is not an emergency number, but a phone line strictly dedicated to informing the citizens.

Furthermore, Romanians abroad can request information on the prevention and control of the coronavirus on a dedicated line +4021.320.20.20.

 

 

 

 

2,923 Romanians abroad infected with novel coronavirus, out-of-country death toll – 103

The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Tuesday that 2,923 Romanians abroad have been infected with the novel coronavirus, and the COVID-19 death toll of Romanian citizens out-of-country reaches 103.

“As regards the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, according to information obtained by the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania abroad, of the 2,880 Romanian citizens abroad who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, 1,698 are in Italy, 561 in Spain, 30 in France, 487 in Germany, 87 in the United Kingdom, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 3 in the US, 4 in Austria, 3 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil and Sweden.”, reads the GCS release.

The source says that since the start of the COVID-19 epidemic and up to now, a number of 103 Romanian citizens abroad have died: 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 34 in the United Kingdom, 8 in Spain, 5 in Germany, 2 in Belgium and one each in Sweden, Switzerland, the US and Brazil.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the novel coronavirus, 22 were declared cured: 9 in Germany, 9 in France, 2 in Indonesia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia, the GCS shows.

 

Suceava, Bucharest remain Romania’s highest coronavirus caseload areas

 

The north-eastern Suceava County and Bucharest further report Romania’s first and second-highest numbers of coronavirus infection cases: 3,478 and 1,659, respectively, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs.
