GCS: 198 new cases of coronavirus infections in Romania, total case count reaches 17,585

A number of 198 new cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been recorded in Romania since the last update, bringing the total case count to 17,585, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Thursday.

Of the people confirmed positive, 10,581 have been declared cured and discharged from hospital.

As many as 203 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care.

To date, 1,151 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died in Romania.

A number of 9,800 people are in institutionalized quarantine on the Romanian territory, and another 39,614 people are in isolation at home and are under medical monitoring, the Strategic Communication Group informs on Thursday.

According to the quoted source, so far, at national level, 342,466 tests have been processed.

In the last 24 hours, 447 calls were registered to the emergency phone number 112 and 1,296 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), open especially for informing citizens.

 

Counties of Suceava and Neamt, Bucharest are Romania’s highest coronavirus caseload areas

 

Most of the cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Romania have so far been reported in north-eastern Suceava County, with 3.472, in Bucharest, with 1,687 and in Neamt County, with 845 cases, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs.

Number of Romanian citizens in other countries confirmed to be infected with coronavirus grows to 3,026

 

A number of 3,026, compared to 2,924 on Wednesday, Romanian citizens in other states have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Thursday.

Out of these, 1,699 are in Italy, 561 in Spain, 84 in France, 535 in Germany, 87 in the United Kingdom, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 3 in the USA, 4 in Austria, 3 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil and Sweden.

According to the GCS, since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, 105 Romanian citizens have died abroad: 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 35 in the UK, 8 in Spain, 6 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the US and one in Brazil.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the novel coronavirus, 22 were declared cured: 9 in Germany, 9 in France, 2 in Indonesia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
