A number of 127 new cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been recorded in Romania since the last update, bringing the total case count to 17,712, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Friday.
Of the people confirmed positive, 10,777 have been declared cured and discharged from hospital.
As many as 200 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care.
To date, 1,159 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died in Romania.

According to the quoted source, so far, at national level, 352,647 tests have been processed.
In the last 24 hours, 440 calls were registered to the emergency phone number 112 and 1,296 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), open especially for informing citizens.
Number of Romanian citizens abroad infected with novel coronavirus increases to 3,067
As many as 3,067 Romanian citizens in other states have been confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus, the Strategic Communication Group reported on Friday.
On Thursday, 3,026 were infected, according to the GCS.
Out of this figure, 1,699 are in Italy, 561 in Spain, 84 in France, 576 in Germany, 87 in the United Kingdom, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 3 in the USA, 4 in Austria, 3 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Malta and Sweden.
According to the GCS, since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) epidemic, 106 Romanian citizens have died abroad: 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 35 in the UK, 9 in Spain, 6 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA and one in Brazil.
