The current crisis caused by COVID-19 — which has led to the termination of an important number of collaboration contracts and, implicitly to the accelerated decrease in this period of our revenues from both the sale of circulation and advertising — makes it impossible for us to return to the publication of the print edition.
“Dear Readers, I regret to inform you that Nine O’Clock ceases it print edition. We have hoped that we would resume its printing after the end of the state of emergency as we have promised before its start. Unfortunately, the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis and the devastating repercussions in the business environment, added to already pre-existing troubles in the publishing industry worsened now by the cancellation of many contracts amidst the coronavirus outbreak context, prevent us to resume the print version”, says Radu Bogdan, the founder of Nine O’Clock.
“Over the past 30 years Nine O’Clock has been a leader on the market and a trustful partner in informing the foreign community in Romania and not only, and it served its readers with integrity and professionalism. We’ll remain further attached to these core values of our mission in our digital version and in the online edition,” he adds.
With this not at all easy decision, determined by these turbulent times, to give up the print formula of Nine O’Clock, we put an end to a fascinating and unique “adventure” in the Romanian media landscape, which we have lived for 30 years now with the priceless support of you, without whom we would have not existed and resisted on the market, and to whom we are deeply grateful.
We do not rule out that, once the activity of the business environment returns to normal, we will be able to resume the print version someday in the future, this depending of course, also on the circumstances of a safe sanitary environment.
Under these circumstances, we will continue to be with You, as a reliable source of information–as we’ve been in the past three decades– with a professional selection of news and articles inserted in the digital edition that will be delivered via email every evening.
