GCS: Romania records 20,604 COVID-19 infected persons

A further 125 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been recorded in Romania since the last information, reaching a total of 20,604 illnesses, the Strategic Communication Group announced on Monday.

Of the people confirmed positively, 14,826 were declared cured and discharged.

146 patients are admitted to intensive care.

So far, 1,339 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.

 

Police, gendarmes have applied 343 criminal sanctions in past 24 hours

 

In the past 24 hours, the police and gendarmes have applied 343 contravention fines, amounting to 168,100 lei, as a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55 of 15.05.2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Monday.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, an instance of hampering disease control was found, foreseen and punished by Art. 352 of the Criminal Code.

According to the GCS, on Sunday, 7 June, 73 persons who did not comply with the measure of home isolation or quarantine were placed in institutionalized quarantine for 14 days or the measure of institutionalized quarantine was ordered for a new period of 14 days.

 

Suceava County, Bucharest top caseload of COVID-19 infected

 

Most cases of persons infected with the novel coronavirus that have been recorded so far in Romania were in northeastern Suceava County – 3,634 and Bucharest – 2,250.

According to the Strategic Communication Group, there are 20,604 people infected with the novel coronavirus in Romania yet.

Romanians abroad count for 3,304 citizens infected with novel coronavirus

 

As many as 3,304 Romanian citizens living abroad have been confirmed to be infected with COVID-19, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Monday.

Of these, 1,885 are in Italy, 561 in Spain, 84 in France, 617 in Germany, 97 in the UK, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 3 in the USA, 4 in Austria, 3 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil and Sweden.

According to the GCS, since the beginning of the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) epidemic and until now, 114 Romanian citizens abroad have died – 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in the UK, 9 in Spain, 6 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA and one in Brazil.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the novel coronavirus, 28 were declared cured: 9 in Germany, 9 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

“These data are obtained by the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania abroad, either from the competent authorities of the states of residence, to the extent that this data are the subject of public communication, or directly from Romanian citizens abroad”, states the GCS.

Also, starting on Monday, 8 June, passengers travelling to the UK will have to fill out a form, in the situation where the quarantine is mandatory for all people coming from outside the border.
