GCS: 237 new cases of coronavirus infections in Romania bring total case count to 21,182, death toll hits 1369

Another 237 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been recorded in Romania since the last information, bringing the total case count to 21,182, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force) announced on Thursday at noon.

Of the people confirmed positive, 15,283 were declared cured and discharged.

As many as 153 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care.

To date, 1,369 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died in Romania.

 

2,213 persons in institutional quarantine, 101,455 persons isolated at home

 

As many as 2,213 people are in institutional quarantine on Romanian territory, and another 101,455 people are isolated at home and under medical monitoring as a result of the outbreak with the novel coronavirus, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Thursday.

According to the GCS, 531,619 tests have been processed nationwide so far.

In the last 24 hours, 407 calls were recorded to the single emergency number 112 and 1,287 calls to the citizens’ free line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for citizens’ information.

 

117 persons fined in the past 24 hours for breaking provisions meant to combat pandemic

 

As many as 117 persons have been fined by the policemen and gendarmers in the past 24 hours for breaking the provisions of Law No. 55/2020 of 15.05.2020 meant to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Thursday. The fines were worth a total of 130,600 lei.

The MAI (Ministry of Interior) forces also identified three offences of hindering disease combat, under article 352 of the Criminal Code.

Moreover, on Wednesday, June 11, 79 persons, who did not observe the home isolation measures or quarantine measure, were placed under institutionalized quarantine for 14 days or re-placed under quarantine for a new period of 14 days.

GCS reminds the citizens to consider only the information verified through official sources and to call the 0800.800.358 toll-free coronavirus information line for recommendations and other information. The TELVERDE number is not an emergency number, but a phone line strictly meant for the information of the citizens.

Romanians abroad can request information on preventing and combating the virus by calling the +4021.320.20.20 special line.

As of June 10, 1,449,988 cases have been reported in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most of the cases reported were in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.

 

COVID-19 case count breakdown: 3,693 in Suceava County, 2,324 in Bucharest City

 

Most of the cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Romania have been recorded so far in Suceava County – 3,693 and in Bucharest – 2,324.

According to the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force) there were a total of 21,182 people infected with the novel coronavirus in Romania as of Thursday at noon.
