GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 case count increases to 24.045

Another 315 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been reported in Romania since the last information, bringing the total case count to 24,045, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Sunday.

As many as 195 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care.

Of the people confirmed positive, 16,911 have been declared cured and discharged.

 

 Death toll rises by 12, total number of fatalities goes up to 1,512

 

Another 12 people infected with the novel coronavirus have died in Romania in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 1,512, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Sunday.

“Between 20.06.2020 (10:00hrs) and 21.06.2020 (10:00hrs), there have been 12 deaths (8 men and 4 women) recorded of patients infected with the novel coronavirus, who were admitted to hospitals in Arges, Galati, Sibiu, Suceava and Vrancea,” the quoted source informs.

Of these, one death was recorded in the 50-59 age category, 2 deaths in the 60-69 age category, 6 in the 70-79 age category and 3 deaths in persons aged over 80.

According to the GCS, all deaths are from patients who had comorbidities.

 

1,309 persons in institutional quarantine, 76,621 persons isolated at home

 

As many as 1,309 people are in institutional quarantine on Romanian territory, and another 76,621 people are isolated at home and under medical monitoring as a result of the outbreak with the novel coronavirus, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Sunday.

According to the quoted source, 626,330 tests have been processed nationwide so far.

In the last 24 hours, 431 calls were recorded to the single emergency number 112.

 

Law enforcement issues 403 COVID-19 fines in last 24 hours

 

In the last 24 hours, the police and gendarmes issued 403 fines amounting to 128,400 lei for violations of Law No.55 of May 15, 2020 on measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Sunday.

According to the quoted source, the Police on Saturday reported three instances of hindering disease control, punished in Article 352 of the Criminal Code.

Moreover, on Saturday, 64 people who violated home isolation or quarantine were placed in institutional quarantine for 14 days or institutional quarantine for a further 14 days was ordered.

The GCS reminds people to consider only the information verified through official sources.

As of 20 June, 2020, a number of 1,503,319 cases had been reported in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most of the cases had been recorded in the UK, Spain, Italy, France, Germany.

 

3,901 people infected in Suceava County; 2,708 in Bucharest and 1,215 in Brasov County

 

Most of the cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Romania have been reported so far in Suceava County – 3,901, Bucharest City- 2,708 and Brasov – 1,215.

According to the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), a number of 24,045 people are infected with the novel coronavirus on Romania’s territory.
