On June 30, 2020, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Romania, with the support of the Kazakh-Romanian business Council and the mayor’s office of sector 1 of Bucharest, held the Grand opening of the «Nur-Sultan» square in one of the most picturesque places in the capital of Romania.
The opening of the square is dedicated to the day of the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the anniversary of the First President – Elbasy Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev.
The event was preceded by the signing by an online video of a Memorandum of understanding between the Akim of Esil district, Nur-Sultan Berik Jakenov and the Mayor of sector 1 Bucharest Dan Tudorache.
The event was attended by the representatives of state bodies, public figures, large entrepreneurs of Romania, foreign Ambassadors and representatives of the media.
In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Nurbakh Rustemov paid special attention to the merits and exceptional personal qualities of the President, thanks to which the Republic of Kazakhstan has reached a high level in the political international arena and rightfully took its place in the modern history of the world.
The speakers noted the positive dynamics in the development of bilateral relations, as well as the historical importance of such cultural events in the deepening of Kazakh-Romanian relations, in which the opening of the Nur-Sultan square is considered as a significant contribution to the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two friendly peoples.
The Initial impetus to Kazakh-Romanian relations was given during the visits of the First President – Elbasy Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev to Romania in 1998 and 2007. Since then, Romania has invested $ 1.7 billion in Kazakhstan, and the annual trade turnover between the countries has reached $ 1.8 billion, a press release issued by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Romania informs.
