GCS: 1,151 new cases of COVID-19 in Romania, total number of infections – 47,053

1,151 new cases of persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 were recorded, over the last informative bulletin, following tests done at the national level, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Tuesday.

These are cases that did not have a previous positive test, the GCS mentions.

Until Monday, on Romanian territory, there were 47,053 cases of persons infected with the novel coronavirus. The GCS shows that 26,128 patients were declared cured and 3,716 asymptomatic patients were discharged 10 days after detection.

GCS also shows that until this time, at the national level, 1,131,699 tests have been processed. Of them, 21,135 were conducted in the past 24 hours, 13,127 on the basis of the case definition and medical protocol, and 8,008 on demand.

Furthermore, since the last informative bulletin of the GCS, 30 tests processed previous to the prior 24 hours and sent until July 28 were also reported.

 

33 persons have died in the last 24 hours, with the total number of deaths in Romania reaching 2,239

 

The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports on Tuesday that in the last 24 hours, 33 people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have died, with the total number of deaths in Romania reaching 2,239.

According to the GCS, it is about 13 men and 20 women, admitted in hospitals in the counties of Arad, Arges, Bacau, Bistrita-Nasaud, Brasov, Caras-Severin, Dambovita, Gorj, Hunedoara, Prahova, Sibiu, Vrancea and in Bucharest.

Of the latest victims, one was recorded in the age category 20-29 years, one death in the age category 40-49 years, 6 in the age category 50-59 years, 13 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 9 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 3 deaths in the category over 80 years.

The GCS says that 31 of the deaths recorded were of patients with comorbidities, and 2 of the deceased patients had no comorbidity.

 

6,960 persons in medical units due to COVID-19 infection, 357 in ICU

 

In the medical units, the total number of people admitted with COVID-19 is 6,960, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Tuesday.

357 patients are admitted to the ICU, the source said.

On the territory of Romania, 2,254 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 5,063 are in institutionalized isolation.

Also, 13,890 people are in quarantine at home, and 15 people institutionalized quarantine.

 

594 persons reconfirmed positive with COVID-19

 

A number of 594 persons were retested and reconfirmed positive for COVID-19, announced, on Tuesday, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

“Distinct from the newly-confirmed cases, following retesting of patients already positive, 594 persons were reconfirmed positive,” the GCS mentions.

With 97 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases each, Bucharest City and Arges County top Romania’s ranking by the rise in cases since the last report, followed by Brasov County, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Tuesday.

Bucharest City (5,425) and the counties of Suceava (4,439), Arges (2,911) and Brasov (2,811) counties have the highest SARS-CoV-2 case counts in Romania, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, informed on Tuesday.

Twelve counties so far have over 1,000 reported cases: Bacau, Botosani, Buzau, Cluj, Dambovita, Galati, Iasi, Ilfov, Neamt, Prahova, Timis, Vrancea.

5,479 Romanians abroad infected with coronavirus, number of deaths unchanged at 123

 

As many as 5,479 Romanians from outside the country, compared to 5,329 on Monday, were confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2, the Strategic Communication Group reported Tuesday.

According to the source, the number of deaths of Romanian citizens abroad, due to COVID-19, is 123, with no changes in this respect since the last reporting.

Of the 5,479 Romanian citizens confirmed to be infected, 1,891 are in Italy, 561 in Spain, 124 in France, 2,551 in Germany, 157 in the UK, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 111 in Austria, 3 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 16 in Greece, 2 in Cyprus and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil, India, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Sweden and the Republic of Congo.

Since the beginning of the pandemic and until now, 123 Romanian citizens abroad have died: 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in the United Kingdom, 9 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, one in Brazil and one in the Republic of Congo.

 

Law enforcement issue 1,043 COVID-19 fines in last 24 hours

 

Law enforcement officers issued in the past 24 hours 1,043 fines amounting to 138,431 lei for violations of Law No. 55/2020 on measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports on Tuesday.

Also, the Police found ten instances of hampering diseases control, a crime under Article 352 of the Criminal Code.

As many as 981 calls to the 112 emergency line and 2,402 to the 0800 800 358 toll-free information line were reported in the last 24 hours.
