GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 case count rises by 779 to 62.547

The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports on Monday that 779 new cases of persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 were recorded over the previous update, following tests done at the national level.

These are cases that had not previously tested positive, the GCS mentions.

As of Monday, 62,547 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania.

GCS shows that 30,311 patients were declared cured and 6,497 asymptomatic patients were discharged from hospital 10 days after detection.

According to the GCS, to date, 1,385,334 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 6,607 were performed in the last 24 hours, 4,738 based on the case definition and medical protocol, and 1,869 – upon request.

 

326 persons retest positive for SARS-CoV-2

 

As many as 326 persons were retested and reconfirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced today.

“Apart from the newly confirmed cases, 326 persons were reconfirmed positive following the retesting of already positive patients,” the GCS said.

As many as 779 new COVID-19 cases have been registered since the last report.

 

 Romania’s COVID -19 death toll rises by 29 to 2,729

 

Another 29 people infected with the novel coronavirus have died in Romania, bringing the total COVID-19 death toll to 2,729, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Monday.

According to GCS, 18 men and 11 women died in the last 24 hours, who were hospitalised in the counties of Alba, Arad, Arges, Bacau, Braila, Buzau, Dambovita, Galati, Gorj, Hunedoara, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Timis, Valcea, Vaslui, and Bucharest City.

Of the latest deaths, there was one fatality each in the 20 – 29, 30 – 39 and 40 – 49 years age range; two deaths were in the 50 – 59 years age range; nine each in the 60 – 69 and 70 – 79 age group and six were patients aged over 80 years.

According to the GCS, 28 deaths were in patients who had pre-existing conditions and one deceased patient displayed no comorbidities.

 

7,763 people hospitalised with COVID-19; 476 in intensive care

 

The Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, informed on Monday that 7,763 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in Romania’s special healthcare facilities.

As many as 476 of the patients are in intensive care.

As of the same date, 7,229 people in Romania confirmed with the novel coronavirus were in isolation at home, and 5,373 in institutional isolation.

Also, 20,898 people were in quarantine at home and 156 in institutional quarantine.

 

Coronavirus case count: Bucharest City – 7,454, Suceava County – 4,741, Arges County – 4,102

 

Romania’s areas with the highest coronavirus caseloads are Bucharest City – with 7,454 cases, Suceava County – with 4,741, and Arges County – with 4,102, the the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs.

Brasov County reports 3,683 cases and the counties with over 2,000 illnesses are Dambovita – 2,344, Prahova – 2,692, Galati – 2,561 and Vrancea – 2,022.

Another 17 counties have crossed the 1,000-line – Arad, Bacau, Bihor, Botosani, Braila, Buzau, Cluj, Constanta, Gorj, Hunedoara, Iasi, Ilfov, Mures, Neamt, Sibiu, Timis.

COVID-19 case count of Romanians abroad reaches 5,627, out-of-country death toll steady at 123

 

The number of Romanians abroad confirmed as infected with the novel coronavirus is 5,627, while the number of out-of-country coronavirus-related Romanian fatalities remained steady since the last report at 123, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports on Monday.

According to the cited source, of the 5,627 coronavirus-infected Romanian citizens, 1,891 are in Italy, 570 – in Spain, 124 – in France, 2,672 – in Germany, 157 – in the United Kingdom, 28 – in the Netherlands, 2 – in Namibia, 4 – in the USA, 111 – in Austria, 17 – in Belgium, 6 – in Japan, 2 – in Indonesia, 2 – in Switzerland, 2 – in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 18 in Greece, 2 in Cyprus and one in each Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, the UAE, Malta, Brazil, India, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Sweden, the Republic of the Congo, Hungary and Qatar.

The death toll of out-of-country Romanians since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic is 123: 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in the UK, 9 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium and one in each Sweden, Switzerland, the USA, Brazil and the Republic of the Congo.

As many as 189 Romanians who tested positive for coronavirus have been meanwhile declared cured as follows: 159 in Germany, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

As many as 1,815,041 COVID-19 cases have been reported as of August 9 in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland and Andorra. Most of the cases were registered in the United Kingdom, Spain Italy, France and Germany.
