GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 case count rises by 1.215 to 63.762

The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports on Tuesday that 1,215 new cases of persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 were recorded over the previous update, following tests done at the national level.

These are cases that had not previously tested positive, the GCS mentions.

As of Monday, 63,762 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania.

GCS shows that 30,585 patients were declared cured and 6,756 asymptomatic patients were discharged from hospital 10 days after detection.

According to the GCS, to date, 1,404,845 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 19,491 were performed in the last 24 hours, 11,595 based on the case definition and medical protocol, and 7,896 – upon request.

 

613 persons retest positive for SARS-CoV-2

 

As many as 613 persons were retested and reconfirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced today.

“Apart from the newly confirmed cases, 613 persons were reconfirmed positive following the retesting of already positive patients,” the GCS said.

Romania’s COVID-19 death toll rises by 35 to 2,764

 

Another 35 people infected with the novel coronavirus have died in Romania, bringing the total COVID-19 death toll to 2,764, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Tuesday.

According to GCS, 21 men and 14 women died in the last 24 hours in hospitals in the counties of Alba, Arad, Arges, Bacau, Bihor, Bistrita-Nasaud, Brasov, Buzau, Caras-Severin, Dambovita, Dolj, Hunedoara, Ialomita, Iasi, Maramures, Mures, Olt, Prahova, Salaj, Timis, Tulcea, Vaslui, Vrancea, and Bucharest City.

Of the latest deaths, there was one fatality in the 30 – 39 age range; one in the 40 – 49 age range, four deaths were in the 50 – 59 age range; five in the 60 – 69 years age group, 13 in the 70 – 79 age group and 11 were patients aged over 80 years.

According to the GCS, 33 deaths were in patients who had pre-existing conditions, one deceased patient displayed no comorbidities, and for one patient no co-morbidities had been reported.

 

Coronavirus case count: Bucharest City – 7,605, Suceava County – 4,769, Arges County – 4,155

 

Romania’s areas with the highest coronavirus caseloads are Bucharest City – with 7,605 cases, Suceava County – with 4,769, and Arges County – with 4,155, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs today.

Brasov County reports 3,710 cases and the counties with over 2,000 illnesses are Dambovita – 2,415, Prahova – 2,743, Galati – 2,608 and Vrancea – 2,058.

Another 17 counties have crossed the 1,000-line – Arad, Bacau, Bihor, Botosani, Braila, Buzau, Cluj, Constanta, Gorj, Hunedoara, Iasi, Ilfov, Mures, Neamt, Sibiu, Timis.

With 151 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, Bucharest City tops Romania’s ranking by the rise in cases since the last report, followed by the counties of Vaslui (113), Dambovita (71), Arges (53) and Bihor (53), the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, informed on Tuesday.

SARS-CoV-2 case count of Romanians abroad steady at 5,627

 

Both the number of Romanians abroad confirmed as infected with the novel coronavirus and the number of out-of-country coronavirus-related Romanian fatalities remained steady since the last report at 5,627 and 123, respectively, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports on Tuesday.

According to the cited source, of the 5,627 coronavirus-infected Romanian citizens, 1,891 are in Italy, 570 – in Spain, 124 – in France, 2,672 – in Germany, 157 – in the United Kingdom, 28 – in the Netherlands, 2 – in Namibia, 4 – in the USA, 111 – in Austria, 17 – in Belgium, 6 – in Japan, 2 – in Indonesia, 2 – in Switzerland, 2 – in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 18 in Greece, 2 in Cyprus and one in each Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, the UAE, Malta, Brazil, India, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Sweden, the Republic of Congo, Hungary and Qatar.

The death toll of out-of-country Romanians since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic is 123: 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in the UK, 9 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium and one in each Sweden, Switzerland, the USA, Brazil and the Republic of the Congo.

As many as 189 Romanians who tested positive for coronavirus have been meanwhile declared cured as follows: 159 in Germany, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

As many as 1,815,041 new coronavirus cases have been reported as of August 10 in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland and Andorra. Most of the cases were registered in the United Kingdom, Spain Italy, France and Germany.
