Government to approve external grants for schools

The government is expected today to approve at its meeting a draft emergency ordinance on measures for the allocation of external grants for the development of teaching activities related to the school year 2020-2021 amidst the risk of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infections.

“Tablets for school use with internet access will be purchased through operational programme competitiveness, as well as other electronic equipment/ devices necessary for the remote instruction of 400,000 students. Under operational programme large infrastructure, medical disinfectants will be purchased and mobile sanitary containers for schools,” according to the substantiation note of the draft.

Another draft emergency ordinance under consideration amends and supplements Law 95/2006 on healthcare reform, of Emergency Ordinance 158/2005 on healthcare leave and social healthcare insurance repealing some legal provisions and establishing healthcare measures.

Also featuring on the agenda is a decision on Romania’s contribution or non-contribution to the European Investment Bank’s the Pan-European Guarantee Fund in response to COVID-19.

Another memorandum regards negotiations over a Romania-Kuwait governmental agreement on co-operation in the fight against organised crime and terrorism.
