PM Orban: Firefighters’ Day celebrates brave defenders of lives, property endangered by flames, calamities, accidents
Prime Minister Ludovic Orban sent a message on September 13, the Romanian Firefighters’ Day, paying tribute to all those who helped at many crossroads in modern Romanian history, “the brave defenders of lives and property endangered by flames, natural disasters, accidents or other risk situations. “
“Today is the Romanian Firefighters’ Day, a day dedicated to the brave defenders of lives and property endangered by flames, natural disasters, accidents and other dangerous situations. Starting with the heroic military firefighters who fell in 1848 on Dealul Spirii, in the fight against the Ottoman armies, to defend the population and the aspirations to freedom and progress that enlivened the Romanians during the 1840s, today, decades later, we remember and pay tribute to all those who helped in many other crossroads moments in the modern history of Romania, reads Orban’s message.
He praised the courage of today’s firefighters, whose mission involves both risks and difficult situations “in the face of which they are not overwhelmed.”
“We want to thank them and cherish the courage of today’s firefighters, whose mission involves both risks and difficult situations, in the face of which they are not overwhelmed. Their work is often a real time trial fight for the lives of our fellow citizens in difficult situations and we rejoice in every rescue mission that ends successfully. Thank you, dear firefighters, to all those in the civil protection bodies and in the emergency inspectorates, for the dedication with which you put yourselves at the service of the citizens and for the saved lives! I also want to congratulate you on the support you have provided since the onset of the health crisis for the transport of people infected or suspected of COVID-19 and in the management missions of quarantine centres, transport of protective materials and equipment and decontamination operations. Happy Firefighters’ Day and success for all your missions!”.
