Naguma Medical Supply, part of InteRo group, has successfully delivered all 103 million 3-ply masks for Romanians in need, as part of the contract signed with the Ministry of Health, a press release issued by the company last Friday informs.
“While we encountered many challenges on the way, we kept a tight schedule and worked 24/7, so as to deliver the 103 million masks to all 41 counties in Romania plus Bucharest, as previously announced. Despite unfounded public controversies and speculations, we remained committed to meet our contractual obligations and support Government efforts to protect Romanian citizens against this virus”, said Michael Topolinski, the company’s founder.
Naguma Medical Supply won the tender organized by the Ministry of Health at the end of June, based on the lowest price offered, i.e. 0.64 Lei plus VAT, saving the state about 120 million Lei, for medical masks. Although the acquisition procedure was held at the end of June, the signing of the contract was, however, delayed by two months, due to contestations filed by Best Achizitii and Unifarm, which were eventually rejected by CNSC and The Appeal Court.
“Despite the satisfaction of having successfully overcome all political, bureaucratic and logistical challenges of this project, our first experience with public acquisitions in Romania has not been a pleasant one”, Topolinski added. „When we started this company, we set a long term objective to become a major provider of masks and other PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) supplies for all Romania and Europe, state authorities being major partners for us, especially during the pandemic. Given the nature of the commodities, we expect our compliance with the Ministry of Health contract has helped demonstrate our good intentions and professionalism. At the end of the day, we need to remember that we all – Romanian or foreign investors alike – have people’s best interest at heart, as we are facing one of the worst health challenge in recent history”.
Naguma gives a special thanks to our China partner and our Romanian associates and employees for going above and below to deliver on our promise to the Ministry of Health.
Naguma Medical Supply SRL joined the fight against COVID – 19 in early March with a mission to provide quality protection equipment to Romanian and EU citizens. So far, Naguma has produced/imported about 250 million masks to Romania and other European Union countries.
