GCS: Romania reports 10.108 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 following 36.963 tests nationwide

Romania reported today 10,108 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 following 36,963 tests run nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Thursday.

These are all cases of patients who had not previously tested positive.

As many as 393,851 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Romania as of today.

A total of 269,590 coronavirus patients have been declared cured as of November 19.

According to GCS, to date, 3,808,279 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 36,963 were performed in the last 24 hours – 20,954 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 16,009 upon request.

As many as 1,334 people were positively reconfirmed with COVID-19 following the retesting, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) also announced on Thursday.


Sibiu County remains at infection rate of over 9 per 1,000 population, Cluj at 7.64


Sibiu County has an infection rate of 9.06 per 1,000 population in the last 14 days, slightly higher than the previous day when it registered 9.01, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Thursday.

According to GCS, Cluj County ranks second, with an incidence of 7.64 per1,000 population, up from Wednesday’s 7.52.

The Municipality of Bucharest has an incidence of 5.66 per 1,000 population, up compared to Wednesday’s 5.45.

None of the country’s counties are in the green zone.


Bucharest, over 54,000 SARS-CoV-2 cases; Cluj, Iasi, Timis and Prahova Counties next


Most cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been registered so far in Bucharest – 54,603 and in the Counties of Cluj – 17,689, Iasi – 16,378, Timis – 16,218, Prahova – 16,038, Brasov – 15,313, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Thursday.

In Constanta County there were 12,405 cases, and over 11,000 cases in the following counties: Suceava – 11,902, Bihor – 11,865, Ilfov – 11,661, Sibiu – 11,452 and Bacau – 11,243, and over 10,000 in Arges – 10,942, Dolj – 10,327 and Mures – 10,032.


Bucharest City reports 1,473 new cases; daily count exceeds 700 in Cluj County


With 1,473 newly confirmed coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, Bucharest City marked the highest daily tally increase in Romania, followed by the counties of Cluj – 734, Constanta – 484, Arges – 446, Ilfov – 441, Prahova – 424, Iasi – 409 and Mures – 401, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Thursday.


Case count of Romanians abroad steady at 6,863, out-of-country death toll 126


The number of Romanians abroad confirmed as infected with the novel coronavirus remained steady at 6,863 since the last report, just as the number of out-of-country coronavirus-related Romanian fatalities, at 126, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports on Thursday.

According to the cited source, of the total number of coronavirus-infected Romanian citizens, 1,935 are in Italy, 1,253 – in Spain, 124 – in France, 3,018 – in Germany, 167 – in the United Kingdom, 36 – in Hungary, 28 – in the Netherlands, 2 – in Namibia, 4 – in the USA, 123 – in Austria, 22 – in Belgium, 6 – in Japan, 2 – in Indonesia, 8 – in Switzerland, 3 – in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, two in India, two in Ukraine, 8 in UAE and one in each Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, the Republic of the Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal and Egypt.
